Other then cutting, bending, welding the stem (and reciever) and adjusting the stock reciever (which can be done with lots of trial and error), there is HD's adjustable backrest, which I have not tried. I ended up with a corbin seat and the backrest is much better. HD needs to work on this as their backrest sucks. Good luck!

I haven't tried yet but can the Corbin backrest be adjusted upward? I'd like it to hit me higher in the small of my back. This was one of my projects for this weekend.

In a word....No.  I'm not saying it can't be done, but there is no simple adjustment to raise the post height....

Added 2in to it's length and put 2 bends in it and it's perfect now.

Frosty,

I have been wondering the same thing, except I'd like to slide it forward 1/2 or 3/4 inch.  Tilting it just presses the top into my spine.

p.s. good looking bike!

I believe it will, Capo - but cannot say for certain - because I never tried it.  In addition to having a favored backrest, I have a favored seat.  I installed the seat and backrest before trying it with the stock heated seat...  sorry...   :nixweiss:

Thanks SadunbaR-fact is considering the $$$ investment the seat SUCKS! I do like the heat option on these 40 degree mornings-but the backrest has staples showing and the leather has a cheap low quality vinyl look to it-and to think it'll take another 1K to get what the Moco should've done on the line just pi$$e$ me off. So what did you do?? :coolblue:

I use the HD "pillow" seat - not the one they offer now, but the one that was stock on Ultra Classics back in 2001 or so.  The original pillow seat is out of production.  And the adjustable backrest has the matching "pillow" cushion.

I found a new "old style" pillow seat last year by having my dealer do a "dealer search".  There were still a few around.  The one I bought came from a MOCO dealer in New York that had one on the shelf.  There were a half dozen or so showing as in stock at various dealers around the country.  But, they have been out of production for a few years.  The current pillow seat is not nearly as "deep dished" as the original.  The seat is not only comfortable, but the deep dish gives me great lower back support.  The seat combined with the adjustable backrest fits me perfectly.  I have done 1k plus days many times without a hint of a$$ or back problems...  Makes my ride a lazy boy on wheels!    :2vrolijk_21:

Maybe you've already tried this, but you can move the base of the backrest forward by removing the seat and unbolting assembly. There are a few positions forward that it can be moved to, but if you go any further than 1 it will make the seat/backrest slot look stretched out.

Didn't know that!  Will look.
