Shouldya, Couldya, Wouldya?
« on: April 07, 2008, 10:43:22 PM »

Ordered the IDS rear hub and when I picked it up , I noticed how ugly the thing was so I sent it out for the CVO chrome look. I pick it up later this week   so the dealer can install it. I'm wondering if I was OK to have had it all chromed as I did ( except the bearing hole, I hope), or to not have chromed the part the belt runs in. Probably too late to worry about at this point , but I figuried that the chrome after market pulleys would likely have been completely chromed, although Ive never seen one up close. Have I screwed up?  :nixweiss:

I don't think you should have chromed the area the belt rides in. This area is going to wear, and once chrome wears , it's going to peel all over hell. It may even cause the belt to wear sooner then expected life.

 I would suggest having it sand blasted and then do chrome powder coat to get the look you are after. Have them mask off the toothed area so as to not have the same type problem. A waist of chrome dollars but you will save your self a lot of grief.
