I drive a diesel work truck all day, from monday to friday.
Friday I filled up at 4.09 per gallon. It now costs my company
over 110.00 per day to run the truck. Good thing I don't
have to pay for it.

This will show my age, but I now spend more on fuel in a week that I earned at my first job!
And gas was 19 cents then.

We had a bootlegger that would sale us Buckhorn beer for 1.65 a case  man I would not even get near that beer today

We had to stop to unload excess beer, which cut into our driving time.      

Almost every afternoon about 3 would get a 6 pack for the drive to wherever - perfectly legal then.  Never seemed to get hot either.

Wow this thread has really generated some thoughts and feelings. As Jim said we are really starting to pay through the nose for all our fuel and power usage. I have just had an increase (again) on my monthly charge for gas & electric to $334.00 a month. I reckon my diesel bills for the car are now around $900.00 - $1,000.00 a month and we pay about $100.00 a month for our water/sewerage charges. We also pay tax to our local Council (for services and amenities) of $420.00 a month. I don't count the fuel bill for the bike!
