Filled the work truck up yesterday. The fuel gauge is broken and I'm too cheap to fix it. I use the odometer to figure fuel consumption. Anyway, as I was pumping along the hose didn't turn off. I actually walked around the truck to make sure there wasn't a hole and it wasn't spilling onto the ground. It must have been totally empty as it took 38.01 gallons. @ $4.61/ gal that's $175 !!! to fill it up.

I know I've said it before so sorry about the  :beatdeadhorse: but I believe the current "fuel" crisis is one of the most effective forms of terrorisn there is.

My God you guys have got it good over there. That little fill would have cost you $371.00 at my local filling station in the UK.

I've actually been thinking about and talking about this all afternoon. The main problem we are having right now it not so much the increase, although it hurts, it is the dramatic percentage increase in such a short time. The cost of fuel has gone up about 35% in the last six months. Unfortunately most American incomes have not seen a corresponding increase. As a result a greater % of disposable income is being spent on fuel rather than staples of even modest luxury items.  Nige, think if you fuel was to increase from 9.75/gal to 13/gal in 6 months.

.........and it doesn't stop at the pump. The disposable income is eaten further by the correlating increase in consumables as well  :coolblue:
