SE or Touring performance slip on part #
« on: April 11, 2008, 05:47:53 PM »

Does anyone have a part number for a SE or Harley Touring slip on that does not say

"not for use with 07 - 08 FLHTCUSE"

I have looked in the parts catalog and the Screamin Eagle catalog and they all say the same

I am picking up the bike in a few weeks (finally) and am having a Super SERT and A/C plus some trinkets put on before hand  and would like to do the pipes at the  same time but have not decided on which ones yet (so will go safe and use Harley slip ons if something is available). Will dyno after break and have found / heard the exhaust I want.

Would it be better to just keep stock pipes for now (any advantage to SE slip ons) ?

I believe you will find that the only reason they say they will not work with the '07/'08 is because those model years have a catalytic converter in the mufflers that is a required part of the emission system.  Knowingly selling the mufflers for use on those models would be a violation of the law, therefore the model year statement is there to cover the MoCo's posterior and doesn't mean the parts won't physically fit.  You will find many examples of this throughout the parts catalogs.

Now that H-D no longer sells or promotes loud exhaust systems, if you are looking for significantly more sound and/or performance, you won't find it in the H-D catalogs.

Thanks for the reply Jerry, not looking for loud, want something a little louder with more flow. What I have heard from true duals so far are to loud but I am sure if I keep listening I will hear the "right" ones

I've got SE Pro Performance Slips Ons (Not for use on '07) on my 07 and they work great.  The part number ends in -98B and they need an end cap.  They were discontinued in '06 and I bought them used.  I've seen them a bunch on eBay and occasionally pop up here.  It's a nice sound.

Still looking for the "Best" slip ons. Talked to the dealer and he suggest staying with the stock CVO's as they will work better than any of the Screamin Eagle slip ons (now waiting to hear / see V H Monsters)? ? So far have added LED windshield trim, Super Tuner (canned map), SE A/C, Chrome speaker covers (front and rear), Plugs for heated gear, three pouch windshield bag, and have ordered J&M shorties and head set. Have not picked it up from the dealer yet, last two days we have had 12" of snow and minus 20, Have booked a flight to pick it up on April 29, I guess I will have to ride south to get some decent weather. Will post pictures of first ride in a week or two (I hope)

65115-98B if you can find em. They do work well and sound great. Somebody posted on another thread that while H-D doesn't make them anymore, the company that supplied them (Supertrapp ? ) still does under their own P/N

Take a look at Freedom Cycles in Reno NV.  The Yuill Brothers make an incredible true dual exhaust.  I have personally compared it to my SE Slip on's on my 06 103"  Their system is within 2db across the board in comparison to my SE's.  One of the guys I ride with has the same SE as I do.  I make 96hp 101torque at sea level.  He makes 100hp 101torque at 4500' here in Reno.

No disrespect intended toward your riding buddy, but what your post tells me is that he rides around with Gold Wing looking mufflers for the sake of 4hp ?

Just ain't worth it in my book. Those things are FUGLY

Charger,
Have you looked into the SE Pro (P#64985-07A page 541 08 parts book).
The reason they say no, as was already mentioned is an EPA CYA for the MOCO.
I have them on my 08 SEUC and they sound good at idle, initial take off and you can hear the radio at cursing.
I have the other SE slip-ons (discontinued) on my 06 Road King (95ci w/ SE high compression pistons and heads 255 cam) little too loud for my taste now.
Hope my 2 cents helps.
