You have, I have, everyone has ------ bought something that turned out to be not what you really wanted, or was not quite as advertised or did not continue to live up to what you needed in your life As The World Turns.  You sold it, adapted it, burned it or continuted to pay for it and care for it - you did something with this thing.  Because we are human.  It does not make us or the thing good or bad.  It just is what it is.  Whatever the cost - be it financial, investment of time and/or labor.  It is what it is.

Love it or hate it, but better to love it.

Just my very humble opinion.

I was one of the unfortunate souls to have bought a Frigidaire washer that churned clothes vertically instead of the standard back and forth motion. It was a bad design. It was manufactured poorly. "It had malfunctions in the mechanisms" is an understatement. It was a piece of chit washer. After two years, they dropped manufacuring of it.

You're right, I did something with it. I rolled it out the back door and killed it dead with a 12 gauge shotgun. I then went out and bought another brand washer.

Therein lies the conundrum, there's only 1 Harley Davidson! And when it's in your blood, there's no substitute. No matter how much you hate the MoCo for being a buncha greedy corporate bastards! ;)

If you love the bike buy it.Buy an extended warranty and you'll be ok. I have been looking into if the problem is somehow linked to eng. modification but not getting allot of answers. 8)

It is absolutely not tied to engine modification. Most start leaking stock. Tearing your brand new engine down has you start looking to do mods. But the mods don't cause this. Poor design and quality cause this. ;)

How about "Soory ma, we didn't mean to shoot your washer full of holes while you where still using it, but dad said he'll get you a new one soon."

Color of bike is Black Diamond and Silver Dust. I will be getting the 7 year Exetended warranty. I appreciate
all the feedback. The bottom line is you would hope Harley would step up to the plate and correct the issues,
But the bottom line is the dollar, and i would assume it will take a recall or lawsuits to get them to correct it
as a whole, not on a case by case issue. But put that all aside, i am really looking forward to this bike, and
just doing some cruising.

Hi TDW, I just bought a black diamond/silverdust SERK a little over a week ago and I absolutely LOVE IT!!  My father has a '07 SEUC which started the dreadful rear cylinder head gasket leak about a month ago with around 7500 miles on it.  It's fixed now but for how long is anyones guess but my ole man still enjoys the hell out of it.  Already knowing the leaky problems the 110's have been experiencing, I still plunked down my cold hard cash on one cause I think its one of the nicest looking Road Kings out there and has plenty of power.  I have ridden goldwing 1800's before and yes they are fast and may very well be faster then my new SERK but not by much.  Anyways, I'm also gonna get the extended warranty and just ride the heck outta it and love life.  Hope you enjoy your new baby as I am mine.

Precisely what the MOCO rep said to me  ???

It's not surprising that a MoCo rep who doesn't know how to fix the problem would try to deflect blame onto the customers.  After all, that seems to be standard policy for both H-D and most of it's dealers.  This is just one more specious claim that has absolutely no basis in fact.  Plenty of stock engines have exhibited defective crankshafts, ACR failures, valve spring interference with the rocker boxes, and yes indeed, the ongoing head gasket oil leak issue.  If the leak issue is due to cylinder liner movement as H-D supposedly admitted in technician training classes, why are they continuing to  play around with different gaskets.  If they had actually fixed the liner issue, there wouldn't be a need to keep trying new gasket designs, would there?  And just in case they haven't figured it out yet, there is no gasket design that will ever seal these things if the liner is actually moving.

I think the jury is still out on the leak issue, both as to root cause and whether or not H-D will ever get it right before they abandon the engine.  Just based on previous known issues that were never addressed, like premature cam chain tensioner failures, I wouldn't hang my hat on the idea that the MoCo will automatically do the right thing.  That hasn't been their history, and I don't see any signs from current management that they have "seen the light".  Having said all that, if someone wants to roll the dice after reviewing the facts and still buy one of these 110's, that is their prerogative.  At least current buyers have the advantage of knowing about these issues prior to the purchase.  The early '07 buyers weren't that lucky, and those are the folks I really feel for in this debacle.

BTW, I think the least the MoCo could do for the early adopters is to commission a special jacket in their honor.  Something like "Official H-D Beta Tester" above an embroidered likeness of the 110 (a little streak of oil running down might be asking for a little too much realism).  Doubtful they could be convinced to provide the jackets for free to the affected owners, but maybe they could offer a 20% discount?

I'd wear my jacket to the HD Expo in Rapid this August (December '06 delivery of my RK) and educate everyone who asked about it.  That is if the bike makes it and I'm not spending my week in Pierre waiting for the "D" model head gaskets to arrive.  I've been to Pierre... :o what a thought.
