Great Avatar Jock.

Pop Quiz
What does the song Robert Duval's chopper squad played as they flew into battle have to do with Honda Motorcycles ?

B B,

Just caught the question and of course it has been answered....While I did not have the pleasure of serving in Vietnam I respect all that did and all other missions for our country.

Good Question....

Does smokin dope and watchin Apocolypse Now count ?
Man I was geeked when Col Kurtz cut off that guys head.
I still have flashbacks

Seriously, I tried to enlist and they wouldn't take me because my hearing is so bad. I felt somehow as though I'd let my country down when I couldn't serve, so I joined the Merchant Marine and rode around on oil tankers delivering gas and JP-5 to military bases. Helped get the 1st VNVMC chapter in Maine off the ground with a few $$ and my time. Listened to a lot of John Prine over whiskey and dope smoke. In the end, I was glad I didn't go, but awed by my buddies who did.

I got a letter today from HD. My first thought was..They've decided to respond to the questionaire I've filled out...I was......Bad. No such luck, they've asked me to participate in an "Online Advisory Panel." In a nutshell it says:

What is the HD Advisory Panel?
. The panel is an online advisory group consisting of HD owners like me.

. Provides a forum to share experiences with HD through online question and answer sessions. They're truly  interested in finding out what I like now, what I'd like to see for the future, and how they could improve.

. The panel will operate on an ongoing basis. THEY want to hear from me now, as well as years later

How Does It Work?
.As a panel member, you'd receive a montly email notification prompting me to to complete a question and answer session

What are the benefits of being a member of the panel?
.Your input would help us to better provide you with better HD products etc etc etc

.Not ever HD owner will be offered this opportunity, so your participation is especially valued.

How do I become a member of the HD Advisory Panel?

. As simple as entering this link. www........and a new browser opens

. There is a panel support team in case there's problems. etc etc

Ok, my question is this...Is this worth the time it takes? Has anyone else gotten a letter like this? Do they send this out to everyone? Is this just another useless survey that changes nothing? I'd love to see what you guys say.

Yes, I've gotten Two of them, Its seams to me that when you buy a NEW HD you are the special list, (at least I am) Yes, IT changes nothing it is a Marketing tool to gather information that is (number) crunched to see if anyone in HD should give a $hit :) Fill it out and you feel like you are part of Team without being kissed first.

I was on this "advisory board" for a couple of years, and all it is is a way for Harley to see how much you spend and who you spend it with.  That's what's irritating.  They don't want to know what you actually think about problems or anything.  They don't seem to have anyway to contact anyone who really cares about the customer.

Every month at the end of the survey when they ask for additional comments I say:

I am boycotting all Harley Davidson products until such time as the Motor Company provides permanent fixes for the long outstanding 110 CVO engine issues.

And I assume they responded with a heartfelt answer about their admission to everything wrong with them, and what they plan on doing about it, right? ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

I saw God once, I think.  It was back in the 70's, so I may have been otherwise influenced in that "vision".   :pimp2:
