Paint/ Bodywork Question
« on: April 18, 2008, 02:11:05 PM »

I can't find the link, but there is a company that does after market paintwork that looks just like the factory SE paint scheme.  I want to get a small front windscreen (Ness, I think) but I want it painted to match my FXDSE2.

Anyone have the website address?

You live in Philly. You're not going to tell me the locals don't have a bunch of good custom paint/body shops around. Why deal with somebody over the phone/internet/UPS/FEDEX when you've got local talent at your disposal. It ain't rocket science for a guy who knows his way around a spray booth.I've had work done on 3 different year/model CVO bikes by local painters and they all did a great job.

Just my $0.02

You do make some good points.

It looks like all this company does is reproduction of SE paint work and I figured the logistics might be a little easier.

Howie - just curious, what is your commission rate?  You've sent this guy more business than the yellow pages.   :huepfenlol2:

Well I'm not getting a penny commission, but there aren't many better than Tony at Uptown Cycles here in Dago. He's had his work featured in more magazines than Imelda Marcos had shoes. Tony recently sold the parts and repair side of his business to a dude named Catman so he (Tony) could focus on what he loves - - - - - custom paint work. He's an artist believe me. The CVO paint jobs are pretty basic when compared with some of the multi-layered paint work Tony does. Still work is work and he takes it in and gives you the same quality as the guy with the 5 figure paint job. And at a price you can afford. I just figured our member in Philly would be better off finding a local shop to do business with. Always a hassle if you've got issues and the guy is on the other end of the country.

If you're just getting a small windscreen done, that's not going to be that tough. I'd suggest a local custom shop. A painter with a good eye can match the CVO colors easily. Since your piece isn't going to be sitting against another painted piece, it doesn't even have to be dead nuts perfect.

 8) 8)  Does anyone have the address of a good paint shop that can paint a new HD modular helmet with the colors on my new 105th SEUC?   I have the 105th anniversary SEUC with the crystal copper and vivid black paint job with a gold leaf separating the two.  Not many really good painters in my area of Alabama that have gold leaf experience.  I bought a new HD modular flip front helmet and want to have it match the colors of my scoot.  I am waiting to see if I can get it painted before I put a headset on it.

I was going to ask if you kept the Goldwing or traded it in on the Anny but I won't.  It might be mistakenly perceived as disrespectful.  (I had a red Goldwing with matching helmets 20 years ago)

Jester:  I have owned many bikes but never a Goldwing.  I have two Ultra's sitting in my garage right now, an 04 FLHTCUI and an 08 FLHTCUSE3.  I really like the Crystal Copper and Bold Black separated with a golf leaf.  To me the classiest paint scheme I have ever seen on a Harley.  I just thought it would look sharp on a helmet.  No disrespect taken.  Thanks for your comment anyhow.  I really enjoy reading the dialog and blogs on this web site.  Keeps me laughing.  And at my age (71), I want all of the humor I can get.
