How hot are your heated grips?
« on: April 23, 2008, 09:04:00 AM »

I’ve seen several threads on failing heated grips.  For those that are working, I’m curious how hot they are supposed to be.  Mine don’t get very hot at all, in fact I can just barely feel them through my gloves.  Without gloves are just warm to the touch.  My wife has the old style on her 01 Shrine Ultra (converted to a Trike).  They only have HI or LOW and the low is significantly warmer then my “6”.  I had them checked at 1000 mile service and was told they were working correctly within the spec of 120 degrees.  Is it my expectations or do these just not heat up good?  BTW, the set works fine, can feel the low temp but the hi really gets my buns going.

They're definetely going bad.   My old bike, My Wifes Bike and my Screamin Nemo all have them and they all get almost to hot to touch without gloves on.  If on six they are barely warm, make the dealer change the left grip with the thermostat while it's still under warranty.  They're known for going bad.

I usually run mine at 3 or 4 and can feel the heat nicely through my winter riding gloves.  I think you should have the left grip replace so you get a new thermostat.

hi Seegarz

i have these heated gloves, connected with a cable running through jacket sleeves then down to the waist, u can use a fused connection direct to the bike battery or i have a cigarette socket fitted under the seat of my fxstsse, or u buy a rechargeable battery pack. if u have more than 1 bike heated gloves r ideal. I run them full heat without thermostat, ok when its very cold but found them to hot one day n had to just disconect them.

Likewise for me. The grips are tremendous, even at level 3 the are really warming up my hands (in FRXG gloves) at high speeds and temps in the mid 40s. The seat has a level 1 ( = can not notice any heat whatsoever) and level 2 ( = seems to be a bit warmer than an unheated seat). My dealer has trouble to decide, if the seat works. Does anyone have information, on how warm the seat should be getting?

On my 07, low is warm enough for me but high, way to hot for me but for the mrs, she is happy. But now I have the heated Corbin and better overall heat except the whole seat is off, low, or hi and I can stand the hi just fine under 40 degrees out.

Mine still work, quite well.............sometimes.  They've been temperamental for quite awhile.  Figure whenever I get around to tearing down for WO575, I'll switch to plain Stealths and Heat Demons.  Doesn't matter right now though.

IT'S RIDING SEASON!!!!!

My grips work great, I run on 3 or 4 without gloves, 6 with heavy gloves. Seat is warm on low and almost too hot on high.
