I have an FXSTSSE2 08 and the bike came with a terrific black cloth cover. I thought every CVO was delivered with one.....
Great thing is that being made from heat resistant cloth, I put it on as soon as I park it. It is also rain proof; water just creates kind of dew drops and small pools, but doesn´t get wet.

Here are a couple of pics with the tag & all. At first I thought it was just gimmick and for show, but it really works great. One other thing, it doesn´t trap humidity under it due to being of fabric manufacture, that allows it to breathe. :orange: :bananarock:

CVO's do come w/covers, but they are not for outside use. They are only dust covers recommended for inside use only. Couldn't see the entire part number on you cover could you give us the entire number maybe they are different covers giving to models that aren't for the USA. :nixweiss:

Hi Fired00d,

I´m certainly baffled by the cover I have. I was in a bike meetig a couple of weeks ago and it poured like cats and dogs and I covered my bike so as my friends. In the morning there was a huge pool between the bikes on the cover (half a gallon or so) and tiny dew drops in the rest of the fabric. Pushing from below, I got rid of the artificial fish pond and was then able to remove the cover. Both bikes were bone dry and touching the fabric I could  feel that no rain water had gone through; not a single drop! This fabric is no light stuff you might think about, on the contrary, it is thick and heavy. It does not have any silver lining or protection on the sides for the exhausts, but it still bears the heat without fuss.

After your comments and since my bike and cover are about 170 miles from where I stay, since I have the bag where it comes in, I decided to put it under the tap in the kitchen to try and get the interior wet; tried cold and hot water, but the water just slides on the external surface. After five minutes, my wife kindly asked me to stop what I was doing by hitting me with a broom on the head... The fact is I had water all over the place and had made a mess of the kitchen, but not a single drop or moist could be seen or felt on the inside of the tough fabric..

I am sure this is not a simple piece of cloth, but something much better designed and engineered. I would no doubt leave my bike under this cover outside any time, any weather. It must be something Harley ordered Dowco to manufacture for some of their bikes. I'm afraid I can't check if some digits are missing from the pic I included, but I see no reason why we at the other side of the pond would get such a great cover while you only get a "dust cover"... it makes no sense. I will however check if the H-D ref nº has more digits as soon as I get to my bike this weekend.

Maybe it is a case that you never tried your cover outside.... One thing I can say, or repeat, it is heavy woven cloth, it is matt black, weighs a ton and is waterproof.

Have a round of virtual spanish beers, my time to invite.

Spanish Flyer,
I did some more research and found the press release for your bike from the MoCo (see here) and it states "Indoor storage cover with embroidered CVO logo". Scroll down to the bottom of the link I provided and you'll see this.

BTW - You are a brave man to try this test in the kitchen.... especially w/your wife home. :nervous:

That was a great link Fired00d,

I couldn't have found it without you.

And it clearly says that it comes with an indoor cover... nevertheless, the cover I got is by far a great cover that withstands rain and constant tap water, even though I got a slight headache in doing that test, so I would suggest you guys with CVO's to try out the wet test on your theoretical "dust cover", since you might be in for a surprise. P.S Do the test in the garden.....

Bought the Exigent as recommended by many here. Used it for the first time this weekend in York. It only fit on backwards, so I'm not sure how it'll work once I put the KTP on. But it worked as intended, kept the bike nice and dry, and stayed on good and tight in a storm. And I even got it folded back up on Sun, to fit back in the little storage bag. It's very compact for travelling. So far, I like it! :2vrolijk_21:

I would be afraid to leave the CVO cover outside advertising it's a CVO. It could also temp someone to take it as a trophy for their NON-CVO

I fully agree with you, anybody could be tempted to take the cover, but the problem is that turning it inside out won't work; the cloth has a totally different surface and I bet it doesn't work half as good, at least as a water repellant.  :-\

If your looking for protection from the sun, dust, dew and occasional quick light shower the quick shade cover works pretty well. It packs very nice and is a snap to put on. It doesn't do much in a moderate to heavy rain though but neither does the orange/black H.D. bikini cover.

http://www.qwikshade.com/index.html

I've had two for the past 7 years and they've held up quite well.

Good luck in your search.

Take care,

Grover

Help!  I'm looking for an outdoor cover from my bike that can accomodate the shorty antenna's as well.  The one that ships with the bike (The indoor CVO cover) has a velcro flat on the back but I dont want to use it outdoors for an overnight cover.    When I look at the Dowco or Exitent web site neither have that capability built into the cover. Any idea's  :confused5:

Why not take the shorty antenna's off when you put the cover on. :nixweiss: Also TCnBham uses an Exigent cover w/his shorty's (J&M I believe) on, and if I remember correctly they aren't doing any harm to his.

What Chief said...it has the velcro slit for the antennas, and is made by Dowco for HD.  I bought one for my 02 Ultra and still am using it on my 07.  Works great.
