You don't. There is some confusion about how an extended warranties works. A Seven Year Extended Warranty extends your warranty out to a total of seven years, it's not a seven year extension, but instead a five year extension.

Received Kasper my 08 SEUC last night from the dealer. It's  been in the dealer 5 weeks and it was a great reunion to have her back!!! They did a complete top end and installed two new cylinders. The New 7B gasket was used on the cylinder heads and I found out that gasket has been around for a very long time and has been used on my production bikes from Harley.(Nothing New) Harley just made the big mistake of going with a multi layered metal gasket with rivets. I looked at the tech pub from Harley on the Cylinder Liners and was surprised to see that there is an allowable movement in the liners. If the liners don't move anymore that that set amount the new(old) 7B gasket which is a chromeric graphite gasket will keep the cylinder head sealed. If your liner comes unglued You will have a massive leak or more??? She is running very smooth and very strong!! The only dumb thing they did is get water in my Air Horn. A new one is coming!! P.S. Get all the air flow you can on that motor!! It loves Air!!!!! 8) 8) 8) 8)

You have a two yr factory warranty and if you bought the 5 yr extended warranty you get an extra 3 yr's of warrany with a $50.00 deductable and you can take your bike anywhere to have warranty work. The first two yrs of the extended warranty run side by side with the factory warranty.

mine 08 is in the shop now with the leaking head gasket problem...9300 miles, very disappointed but expected it to happen at some point after following our forum.  How long does it really take a top mechanic to do the work?? My dealer said 10-14 hours of billable (to HD) hours.

Book rate for shop on warranty head gasket/cylinder replacement is 3.9 hours.  Takes closer to 6 (real time) from what I have been told.

any issues I should look for once everything is repaced? I imagine for a top mechanic this is easy stuff?? At least I hope.

For an average tech this is not that big a deal.  As long as they torque it all correctly & don't install stuff backwards.......

For a good tech its easy.  By now they have very likely done a few of these so it's not new to them.

I rode mine a few hundred miles around the area I live to make sure it was stuck back together correctly before striking out on a long trip. 

Checked for leaks the first 500 miles or so - now just when I wash it. 5,000 miles since the leak & all good so far.

I have over 5500 miles on mine since repair work was done and it is running strong and no leaks as of yet??? 8)

Is it the rear gasket? If so, are they replacing only the rear?

They will replace both cylinder head gaskets and lowers gaskets.

so as I mentioned, I had gotten the call from my dealer late Tuesday about the leaking head gasket..said the soonest I'd get it back is end of the day on Saturday by the time they got the "kit" in and with 10-14 hrs labor.  I get a call 10:00 this morning that "I'm all done"..I said great, but there wasn't even enough time to get it in and get the work done. They said "well it's done". I guess they got it in on Wed and worked on it same day. I can't turn a wrench like most of you, but I did notice one of the screws on the derby cover was sticking out and hand loose..so I asked them to tighten it and check the rest of the screws..it just raises a red flag. I asked Harley direct if there is anything I should keep an eye on..he said "buddy, ride it like you stole it"...and I will
