Damn, I remember those days. They are not that far behind me. I took this ROTC spot to rest the knees and get to know the family. I started back in Somalia and missed my first sons, steps, words, etc.... Then I had my second boy, and wont you know it the same things...
Before heading back to the front line I took my family to Washington D.C. this weekend. Of course I we went to Arlington cemetery, show the family "Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers". Well, to say the least it was very moving. Took some pics of changing of the Guard. Had to it was all INFANTRY!
Even better than that was a big campaign called, Flight of Honor was there. They volunteer their time and take WWII vets to different places around D.C. (not to many of them left)
Lately I have had people come up and shake my hand and say, "thank you for your service" Well you know it sure was nice to say the same thing to them old vets!!!!
Didn't mean to take over your site, thought I would share some feelings, especially coming back from the capital this weekend.
Any whoooo! glad your safe and sound. Remember feet together, eyes open!
