Smoked Tour Pack lenses
« on: May 03, 2008, 06:58:51 PM »

I just installed smoked lenses in my tour pack for my '08 SEUC... Both side lights and corner lights.  They are both LCD and look great!

However, the corner lights ONLY work as brake lights now, not running/brake lights as the original stock ones did???  Apparently they are suppose to be "plug & play", but I don't think so.

Can anyone advise why this is or what I can do to correct this?

Thanks for any assistance you can give.

That would sound right, the way I understand LED lights it is hard to get different outputs of illumination like dual filament bulbs........

they would have had to put 2 circuts of LEDs in the assembly to get desired effect

I tend to agree with you, but the instructions claim they work just as originals do and when I originally saw them at SM H-D, they had a number of bikes with not only smoked but clear lenses on white bikes as well, and they all worked as running AND brake lights.  I phoned the dealership, spoke to service about my concern and all they said was that they don't understand why mine don't work... All they did was install them, plugged them in and they worked as described.

So, I'm still at a loss as to why both sets (first set went on my wife's bike) only work as brake lights???

I am interested in the answer also.....I have been looking to change as many of the standard lights to LED as possible to reduce electrical load on the circutry.........What brand were they?  Did they have install load balancers?

I have been waiting to see what will actually work on 2008 bikes

Dealers around here have not made a commitment on the solution.

The rack was quite easy to remove... Four bolts.  Then I used the Harley chrome strips which are designed to cover up the holes.  I'm sorry, I did a search of the H-D website and can't find the part number, but I know they have it.

The side lights are real easy to exchange out, but the corner lenses are a little tricky... You have to pry them while cutting the glue that holds them in place.  Can be done, but be very careful not to scratch your nice paint.

I know, I still have the tail light to get smoked... I'm working on finding the right lay-down smoked brake light to finish the smokin' job, but I don't like the ones with the chrome insert so I'm open for any and all suggestions.

I'm trying to remove all amber and red from the bike and just make it black, copper & gold.  I'm even working on a replacement tank badge... Just can't figure why the MoCo would ever use the same badge on all three CVO's this year.  My humble opinion is that the red looks great on the white and red versions, I think they should have come up with a unique badge for the Anniversary version... Like I said, I'm working on a suitable replacement and will post pics when I finally finish.
