V&H TRUE DUALS/OVAL SLIP ONS DECELERATION POPPING

I AM SURE THIS HAS BEEN ADDRESSED ON THIS SITE BEFORE BUT I THOUGHT I WOULD PUT THIS OUT THERE AND GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM THE GROUP BEFORE I MAKE MY NEXT MOVE.

JUST RECENTLY TOOK THE PLUNGE AND CHANGED MY STOCK EXHAUST ON MY 03 SERK TO:
- V&H TRUE DUALS
- V&H OVAL SLIP ONS.
- SERT
- SE A/C
- DYNO

THE PROBLEM I HAVE IS THE BIKE IS POPPING A GREAT DEAL WHEN I DECELERATE. BEFORE I RECEIVED THE BIKE BACK, THE DEALER SAID IT WAS POPPING BUT THAT WAS CLASSIC V&H. I JUST DONT BUY THAT! I PREVIOUSLY HAD V&H PIPES AND THEY DIDNT POP AT ALL!

SHOULD I HAVE WENT WITH THE FUEL PAK VS THE SE A/C? SHOULD I GO TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR ANOTHER DYNO?


ANY FEEDBACK ON THIS ISSUE FROM THE EXPERTS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

AS A FOOTNOTE, THE INCREASED PERFORMANCE AND SOUND ARE GREAT AND I AM SURE I MADE THE RIGHT DECISION 
IN GOING WITH V&H. ALSO, THE COMPLETE SYTEM IS BLUE PROOF!

sounds like your tuner forgot to adjust the decel enleanment. most open mufflers will pop on decel, have them back off the d e untill it stops poping.  ta da.

Did they give you a copy of the map after they were done tuning it?  If not try to get one from them.  If you have a copy of the map, lower the decel enleanment from 48c-112c by .03 to start.  If that doesn't solve it try another .03 off.  If that doesn't do it you can also try to increase the 0% throttle range in both the front and rear VE tables at the RPM you get the popping.  Increase it 1 or 2% at a time.  Don't go more than 10% and probably back it off from 10% if that doesn't help.

no, i didnt get a copy of the map, i guess i should of! ill ask for one when i take it back.

Same set, same popping, went back and told them to make the popping go away.  Free re tune, no popping, plugs absolutely light tan (first time I've seen this since carb days). 

Demand a copy of the map, they save them all.  You paid for it, its yours just like an X ray.

There shouldn't be any decel popping.  I have the V&H setup, SERT, and SEAC on my SEUC and never have had any decel popping.   They need to do some more fine tuning on the SERT.

just came back from the dealer and said they cant do anything about it. states its the v&h pipes and not their tuner. states tuner worked on it for 3 hours! that said, i guess the tuner didnt know what he was doing.

i find it hard to believe that this system would be that bad. i have always had good luck with v&h.

i asked for a copy of the map and it wasnt available!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i will take my bike to another dealer and get this _ _ _ _ _ _  _ right!!!!!!!!

never going back to that dealership!

It's not the system, just a bad dealer.  Axil and Springer are right on about changing the decel numbers. 

All they had to do was locate your map in their computer, change the decel numbers, hook up data link and download the new map with the decel #'s changed.  15-20 minutes..

Hope you get it worked out.

If you had the map you could do it yourself. You got ripped.

You paid for it, demand the map.

You DO have the interface dongle don't you?

boatman,porthole,  most of the stage 1 race tuners maps i do are so simple that i don't need to make a copy but will if Iam asked,  but it should be normal to fix the decel pop.  I don't know why some still don't/cant/wont.  i do what i do and others do what thay do. I will help when i can .

The owner should have a copy of what is mapped in his bike, if for no other reason then the issue here.

It doesn't take much to copy the file and give it to the customer.

If the guy wants to take his bike to someone else to remove the decel popping he shouldn't have to pay for a complete Dyno tune.

I would take this issue above the service dept. and go to the GM or the owner, they should at the very least be able to put a decent generic map in and solve the problem.  I know with mine (07 SEUC, Sampson TD's, Cailber Muffs, SE A/C, SERT) generic map is #84. There should be something similar for your set-up

I figure there are three types of customers

1. They only thing they want to know about their bike is to whom the check gets made out to.
2. The person that tinkers with his bike, adds some things here and there and does his own oil changes and such
3. The person that does just about everything to his bike.

Customers 2 & 3 would probably want their copy of the map. And I believe, that it is not proprietary to the tuner, if the customer pays for that service.

I inquired about just that with a tuner in Long Island. When asked if I would receive a copy of what was done the person looked at me as if I asked to read his will. Told me he didn't know if that was possible.

Now up until then he talked a good game although his attitude was a little out there. But to give me that line about the copy means either he is all smoke and mirrors or figures the whole world is just ignorant.
