Spare Bike while my leaks are fixed.
« on: May 06, 2008, 08:25:18 AM »

Bike is in for leaks again and it will prob just get gaskets and o-rings again. Hope the "real fix" is in production by the time my mine starts leaking again. I figure I am going to miss a nice chunk of riding this season.

When I was a kid, my parents would not let me get a car.
Funny thing though a motorcycle was ok. I guess because it didn't have a back seat (LOL).

Any way I drove a CB750 Four for 28,000 miles. That bike was part of me. I was lucky to come across one in mint shape and it is now in my stable as my " Ride while my hog is in the shop bike".
At least I will have wind in my face and some real nostalgia while my Dyna is in the hospital. All tolled she was down close to six weeks last season.

Sorry to hear you're part of the status quo. My 08 SERK just returned from the O.R. for the same reasons. It should have been mandatory to purchase a "backup" at the time we purchased the CVO. Had I known I may have  ;)

Deacon thanks for the memories-my first bike was a 1970 CB 350-looks like this is a 76?

You had a quick one. The 70's had a hotter cam and stiffer gearing, more timing and more go fast stuff. This one is a 1974K4. less timing milder cam, higher gearing.
My first CB750 was a '69 sandcast. Wa Wa, I wish I had kept it. They are going for over 25K in Primo shape.
This one cost less than my SE110 kit!!

I wish the paint was original but it is a repaint. Hard to tell though. He did a real fine matching with the original Honda Orange candy flake paint code.

My first new bike was a '77 Yamaha RD-400 (2-stroke) like the one in the pic. Mine was blue. They came in Blue, Red, and Silver. The only stockers faster than this bike back then were the Kawa triple 2-strokes (500 & 750 cc). That bike was a blast and one of my only regrets was getting rid of it. Would have loved to have kept it forever looking back now. This one's on EBay and is over 2 grand now. I bought mine new for $1200. Oh well, love my V-Twins and probably wouldn't use it. But it would'a been nice to have a piece of your past! ;)

Hoist, Nice Yammy. By the way the 2 cycle 750 Kawi was nicked name "The widow Maker" It would pull the wheels in any gear and handled like a bathtub. Many a new ride rode his last ride on that suicide machine.

Yep, fastest thing on 2 wheels back then. Couldn't handle for sure, but it stopped even worse, hence the term "widow maker"!, But man what a thrill! Hang on!!! ;)

Thanks for the memories Deacon.  My 1st bike was a '78 CB750-4K!  It NEVER looked as good as yours does.  It was brown with sissy bar, luggage rack and Vetter Windjammer SS fairing.  I remember a lot of noise from the cam chain, a rear wheel I could never keep clean and being able to pass any car I wanted.

And one of my current other bikes. I don't call 'em spares. I love em all! This is an 89" Evo in a Kenny Boyce Pro Street frame. ;)
