I've run into a problem with my build. I have learned the new electronic throttle system is designed not allow the TB butterfly to stay wide open but for a second or so. It will automatically close down the butterfly to 70 - 80% open. The bottom line is my 117 is making 101 HP / 116 TQ. I was close to this with a 110, SE A/C, Rinehart TD. I'm sorry I don't have the dyno graph to post.

The package is from Wes at Cyclerama. This package has made good power for several on this site with 110's. I do not think the package is the problem. I'm looking to start eliminating potential problem areas. I'm starting with the TB with this new system as no one seem completely comfortable with it.

I have the SE Race Tuner in my 08 SE Road King. I am using the SE Pro High Flow 58mm EFI TB with the SE Pro High Flow Injector Kit and SE Pro Air Cleaner and Breather Kit. The SERT is not able to tune this automatic feature out. However, I am being told the new Super Tuner will allow this feature to be overridden. This is only with the latest download which I am told was put out about three weeks ago.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge on this? I'm willing to pay the additional $500.00 for a Super Tuner to get my build right. However, I would like to know I'm not tossing good money after bad. Is this same problem occurring on the stock 50mm 08 throttle body? I'm thinking about putting the 50mm back on as my builder has done several 110's with the stock TB, mild cam and some head work making 110 HP, If anyone can help, I would appreciate hearing from ya.

Are the 110 builds your dealer has done on 07's or on 08's with the new fly by wire electronic throttle system?

Hey Scott

They have done them on the 08's using the stock 50 mm throttle bodies.

I've never experimented with this. Will the butterfly work with motor not running but ignition on? This is first i heard about this issue. Definitely a concern and something to check and follow.

Well I have ordered a Super Tuner. I am going to try everything else before I have it installed. First we are removing the AC cover to observe the throttle plate opens all the way and then closes down. Next we will replace the 58 mm TB with the original 50 mm and look at the dyno results.

I am also going to call TTS (makers of the SERT) to see if they have any answers on using my existing SERT. I have talked with several guys that know a lot more than me. Several have used the SERT with this 58mm throttle body and have not experience the problem I am having. However, I have been know to have a cloud over my head on a number of occassions.

Has anyone else used this 58 mm TB on an 08 w/o any problems?

Black Diamond, I put on a wideband O2 gauge to check my air/fuel ratio and tune in my bike. It hooked it up and went and rode it. I dialed in my air/fuel using my Arlen Ness big shot box. I put on some Monster Ovals and Big Sucker air filter. While riding, I got the bike setup really good until full throttle. I was surprised to see the air fuel go richer when I held the throttle open. It was around 12:1 then got to into the 11:1 areas. I actually didn't run any additional fuel at wide open over the stock map in the bike. So in reality my bike is running too rich at wide open.

The air fuel would be leaner then go richer as I kept it open. I think this is due to the throttle closing like you have experienced. My bike is stock.

If that is the case, then the super tuner would be worth doing to eliminate that for sure. Hmmm, might have to get a super tuner now.

I have the 58mm Throttle Body. Is that what you are using? I have been told the Race Tuner will not keep my TB wide open. I do not understand why. Some have told me this is not true.  I am not making the HP / Tq I should with my build. Heck, the more I look into this, the more confused I become.

BD 110,

I am not running the 58 mm TB. Stock 50mmTB still on my bike. I've been following your re-build with interest. I'm getting 110tq/92hp with the map, RHTD & SEAC.

I've got it on my 08 Street Glide with V&H Pro Pipes and HD Heavy Breather.  Having a little decel popping on it right now, but that should all go away when I have it dyno'd.  Seat-of-the-pants dyno fun meter is pretty much pegged everytime I ride it.  That 96 incher is a little work horse.  :2vrolijk_21:

Bagger, would you be willing to give me a copy of your map? I just purchased a pro tuner and am in need of a starting place map.
