Oil Analysis...
« on: May 14, 2008, 07:51:13 AM »

Anyone doing it for their bikes?

My dad worked in the field for years, a company called DA from Indinapolis, Citgo and a number of other companies over the years - and since I was a kid he was always pulling samples from his vehicles and sending them off for testing.  Used to test my stuff when I was building engines to see how they were doing.

He has some test kits that I am having sent out, just wondering if anyone else is doing this?  :nixweiss:

With the recent engines, the oil seems to last longer than the motors.  :nixweiss:

To be honest I wouldn't know where to send the stuff but I'll always read the reports from you guys.

There are several on-line, cost runs about $20.00 +/-...

When I get the info from the vendor my dad was using I will let folks know, he was very happy with him.  I know it prevented some imminent failures of stuff we had when we saw high copper and other specific metals in the samples - also lets you tailor your changes, 3k is a guesstimate most of the time.

Twolanes Tranny issue made me really think about it, I bet that there was a warning sign in the oil that he may have caught before the cat failure...just a thought.

That would have been a nice forewarning to have Sean.  A sudden loud screach and the feeling of denim and saddle leather sucking up toward your prostate is simply not sufficient warning.

Those men in the white lab coats are coming to get me now!  They have one of those nice warm canvas jackets that will force me to hug myself.  Hopefully they've tidied up the room with all the mattresses, and they've thought to warm the injectables prior to administration.  That crap stings when it's cold.   :'(

Oh my god.  I just realized what would be Henry's own version of Dante's 7th Circle.  Tied in that special jacket you mentioned, in a room that's a little messy with a big picture of Thumper on the wall with bugs on it!
