Gasket replacement - now stinks
« on: May 14, 2008, 11:28:42 PM »

Had both head gaskets replaced and since have had an occasional strong fuel smell when riding as well as a constant small of hot or burning wires. Hard to mistake that odor. Looked at all under tank wiring and could see a couple related to the fuel injection close but not touching heads or engine fins. Also checked and found no obvious fuel leak from hoses. Don't know where or what else to check.

This sound like a classic case of burnt ACR wires. When they were reinstalling the heads, there is a possibility that the Automatic Compression Release wire got "shifted" and is now laying exposed. Is the engine hard to start after it sits?
