Has anyone tried the hidden antenna by Dakota Digital?

I use it, here in Sacramento and in the Sierra Nevada mountains.  Haven't had a problem with it.  Gets better reception than the stock.  There is a warning in there to keep it away from large pieces of metal.  Mine is mounted on the outer edges of the inside of the fairing.......as far from everything else as I could get it.

I put on the Dakota Digital.  I lost about 60% of the stations -- I am going back to stock.

The wide differences in performance is puzzling.  On my red bike the tune trapper performs as well as the whip did.  But, then again, everything is better on a red bike  [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif]

Here's my experience.
1) stock set up, works good on FM, works good on AM, works good on WB
2) tune trapper, works good on FM, works not quite so good on AM, works poorly on WB
3) Tune trapper plus stock antenna hooked together by a radio shack adapter, with stock whip on WB works better, but not as good as whip alone, FM works the same, both ways, AM doesn't work that great, but you can run with or without the whip.
Bottom Line, the stock whip antenna works best for all 3 bands.
Plus, I just like the look of the bike with no tourpak and the whip, it just gives the bike a quasi cop bike look which I like a lot.

I tried the Dakota Digital, and sold it.  Worked like pyoooop!  tried the little short rubber antenna from Freedom cycle.  Still got it...

Stock Whip:

8 FM stations
5 AM stations
1 WB

RUbber Antenna

17 FM stations
12 AM stations
1 WB, but clearer reception...

DId the testing in the garage without moving the bike, just changed the antenna...   Liked the results of the rubber antenna a LOT!   [smiley=beerchug.gif]

Sorry to pyooop (quote) on your parade, but I couldn't seriously look at my SEEG with even a shorty from Auto Zone on the rear end.  Looks crappy and destroys the sleek lines of the bike.  I changed out to a shorty, which I agree works well, then tok out the whole setup and switched to Dakota.  Works OK.  Not great, but better than having the antenna on the rear end.  Will probably try the Tune Trapper too.

That was one of the first things I did upon getting the red bike home Bling.  Also hated the whip.  Removed it and the stock tour pak light and the harness that fed them so nothing came up under the tour pak anymore.

FYI - I just recently purchased antenna from Freedom Cycles in Reno http://www.freedomcyclereno.com  from their website. Just wanted to advise anybody that does purchase from website and under the assumption that they will not be charged shipping (which the online invoice indicates), that is not correct  [smiley=furious2.gif]. I ordered my antenna on July 15, 2005 thru the website and invoice said there would be no charge ($0.00) for shipping, however when I received antenna on July 26, 2005 I was charged $7.95 for Federal Express shipping. Mind you I don't mind paying for shipping, but I don't think it's fair and good business practice to say on your website invoice that no shipping charges would be added, then when you receive product shipping charges are added. When I contacted Freedom Cycles I was told that "I was the first that had ever contacted/complained about this charge, and that I was correct the website doesn't show a shipping charge. And they would correct that situation". I find that really hard to believe that other people have not contacted them earlier about this "snafu". To me that is just bad business, if you say you are going to charge someone’s credit card one price do that, don't add additional charges w/o them being aware of it.

Now on the positive side I am happy with the product, but not so happy with the way they handle there online web purchases, and doubt I will be a return customer  [smiley=nixweiss.gif].

I noticed the same thing when I ordered mine, but I knew that they charged freight from looking through the site.  The first time I ordered one, even though I got a confirmation page, the order never took.  Had to reorder and also contact them.  Their web site needs major work, but their products are good.

If you look under the picture is states that S&H is $7.95. It is right at the end of the product description. However, I do agree that they need to show the charge when computing the total purchase.

This link doesn't get you all the way there. You have to still click on "Attenna Kits" at the bottom.
