3 days and counting
« on: May 18, 2008, 05:58:19 AM »

I finally have an appointment for this Wednesday to pick up my 2008 SERK from the Harley dealer in Ludwigshafen.  I ordered last fall from Iraq and it arrived in Germany a month or so ago.  I'm back for mid tour leave and will be breaking in my SERK on the Autobahn on the trip back from the dealer.

I'll post pics later this week of my SERK touring Deutschland.

Don't think I'll be able to make it this weekend as the frau and I already have plans, but a trip to Lago di Garda this fall is definitely in the works.

Congrates, have a safe ride, remember the break in time and speed. Watch out for the fast ones driving on the Autoban.

Be safe when you go back to the box. Ofcource, picssssss

Picked it up on the 21st and put 180 miles on it the first day.  Taking another a road trip tomorrow and it should be past the 500 mile break-in by the time I get back.  A little frustrated with the delivery dealer since they have me the owner's manual for a SEUC and I didn't look close enough when they gave it to me.  They're going to order me the right one since they don't have it in stock.

This is my first Harley and my first time on a Road King.  Can someone tell me where the fittings are to adjust the air shocks?  I'd look in the book if i had one.  My wife has been beating me up about taking a ride and I have no idea how to pump up the shocks so it handles right for 2-up riding.

Thanks.

Take the left saddlebag off and you should see the air chuck for the shocks. If you have the SEUC manual it should show it in there and it should be the same for your bike.

What Gary said, plus, only use a hand pump made for this purpose.  Compressed air can blow the seals out of the shocks (unless you're using a compressor that has a pressure regulator attached to limit the psi to the maximum limit of the shocks).  Your Harley dealer should be able to set you up with a pump or metric dealers may carry them, too, and might be cheaper.

Remove bags, throw shocks in trash, install Progressive or other quality shocks. Enjoy!

Enjoy the new scoot. You got her in the best color package offered IMO. Stay safe in the sand box. Thanks for you service.

Almost the same scenerio happened to me. My dealer had no idea where the mannual was at. When I got home and opened the bags I found the cover that comes with it wrapped in plastic. Opened that up and I found the owners mannual. Did you check the cover? It should come with a disc on how the ABS brakes work as well. Also if you get a discount from the shop you bought the bike, use it for all its worth. The pump is 50.00, minus 10%; check it out it may be worth it. I bought mine and it only had 5 lbs. I travel with 10 lbs solo and 12 w/ two people. Good luck and safe riding.

I agree with Blackdiamond, best color choice; IMO :pineapple: looking good Blackdiamond nice to see on the site.. been awhile.

By the way be safe too! I'm heading there shortly myself..

By the way number two, get a bigger wind shield you won't be disappointed.

Got 2 days short of 2 weeks before I had to put it in the garage for the next 3-4 months.  Put 825 miles on so it'll be due for the 1000 mile service after a couple of rides when I get back.

Wife and I took a day trip through the Alps from Garmisch to the Neuschwanstein Castle.  After that nice, scenic ride, the wife informed me that I might need to get a new seat because her butt was sore after only an hour.  After the return trip, she pretty much demanded that I replace it.  Time to start shopping for a Corbin or Mustang replacement.  Not thrilled since I like the look of the stock seat and it actually was relatively comfortable for being a stock seat.

Also found out that 12 psi on the shocks is great for riding solo, but need a bit more for 2 up riding.  Definitely need to order a Harley hand pump.....or start shopping for progressives.
