My terminals are numbered (Sears) The HD garage opener is wired across terminals 1 and 2.

For some unknown reason the H-D remotes will not work on some openers if the H-D receiver is too close to the motor.  I think it states that in the instructions (I've slept since then, lol).  Anyway I had to wire mine to the wall mounted button I push to open & close the door then it worked fine.

The garage door opener is basically an AM receiver. If you are very close, and if the receiver design is crappy, it can be overloaded. While it's hard to believe HD might sell an inferior product, that's probably what is happening.  ;)

Anyone install a second transmitter on another bike?  HD offers the transmitter that you mount on the bike as a seperate part.  I'm guessing you can use multiple transmitters with just one receiver - but don't want to assume anything...Since bringing the Screaming Nemo home my better half has taken a liking to the door opener and now wants one for her trike.

I would try mine at someone elses house before buying one.  I'd even go as far as programming the visitor bike and then seeing if the 1st one still works.  Come on over and try it.  You're only about 1,500 miles away!

There is no reason you can't install two receivers as well or more for that matter.  It is just a normally open switch that closes when it receives the correct signal.  One receiver will probably not work with two transmitters.

Yes, I installed one on my SED.

Only problem with that is most openers only "memorize" 4 remotes.

So if you have 2 cars, the bike, wireless keypad you are at the max. If you program someone else's to work you will lose the first remote.

After your test you'll end up having to reprogram all four of your remotes to remove the visitor remote - PIA

http://www.electricalconnection.com/electrical-components/garage-opener.htm

I bought one of these systems Transmitter and receiver for a Second bike, It is wired to the same garage door that the (HD) Receiver is connected to - The only additional thing I had to purchase was a 110 to 9v Converter connected to the Ftp Receiver it has worked well.

Just get the Universal fitmet and it will work for you. Call the Electrical connection and they will be glad to answer any questions about what door work and what don't.

No reason you can't just keep adding receivers!  You could have 16 vehicles using the same door with just 4 receivers!!! :huepfenjump3:   There's the reason you need a bigger garage!  "But Honey, I'll  only have to maintian 1 garage door this way!"

That might be true for the receiver built in to the existing opener but the HD receiver is a separate radio controlled switch.

Yes I know, but I couldn't find anything in the book about using more then one transmitter with it. I guess HD never thought there would be "dual bike" owners.

Would be interesting to see if other transmitters will work with the HD unit - then I could add a transmitter to my ZTR!

Xmitter on the SEEG and SERG both control the same receiver.  Have no idea what it's limit is.  But it's more then one.
