Courter and Arcticdue, thanks for the tip and though I rarely admit it, I did read the directions. After the typical disagreement between the wife when I 1st enlisted her help, I had already just plugged it into an extension cord and stood next to the bike. But I still love her and she still loves me

I have to admit I do not think I toggled the headlight switch for two cycles (I may have but not sure so I'll try that).
Twolane, I read a past post where you and chief commented about a connection inside the fairing. It was this post:

The previous owner of my bike had hard wired the power modules for Harley gps and radar detector to the inner fairing and though he took the units, those power module are still mounted there (I have a new inner fairing on order to get them off the bike) so I assume the wires for them run into the fairing and may have been added to those already in there and there may be a birds nest.
