New liner slipage specs?
« on: May 19, 2008, 03:16:54 PM »

I was down at the local stealership meeting a friend and ran into the service manager. Long conversation about the 110's. He said they just received a bulletin from HD stating the jugs will not be replaced unless liner slipage was greater than .004 above casting. Anyone Else heard this? Used to be Any slipage that could be felt meant new jugs. Sounds a lot like the crank r/o issue where they just kept increasing the tolerances!

I got this info from my 8th cousins, brothers, mistress.

The fix is that if it does not leak more tha 1 quart every 1000 miles it is within tolerance.

Not to mention:
You need more than two teeth broken off the ring gear

You need both ACR's burnt out

You need both the intake retainer AND the exhaust hitting for clearance

Both hand grips need to be non funtional

All your paint has to be blistering..........

I realize this was tongue-in-cheek, but were you aware that Harley actually does have a spec that states a paint defect must be easily visible from a certain minimum distance before it is warrantable?  In other words, if you have to get up close to see it, it isn't really a defect.

My '05 softail was burning 2 qt. per 5 K.. HD said that was within their specs so I asked if they thought a judge would find that acceptable. They did a ring and valve job and had my bike back to me in two days. I think HD had been down that road before.
