Jmorton, have a picture of that set up?
Here is what I made up from parts from the local hardware store:
http://www.pbase.com/jmorton10/image/43554558I used threaded 1/4 20 couplers with screwed in knobs for the top two attachment bolts. The upper one needs a smaller knob to clear a rib that is molded into the top of the fairing. I red loctited the knobs into the couplers so they don't unscrew when I am removing the assembly.
The big knob & stud on the right secures the bottom of the fairing to the crashbar clamp.
I use a drop of blue loctite on the threads when I attach the bolts although I'm not sure that's really necessary.
This setup works great, I can reach in the glove box, unscrew the two screws, unscrew the bottom clamp & slip the lower off in 60 seconds. Even if you don't want to ride with them off, it is MUCH easier to remove them to clean the bike also.
The 05 lowers are a HUGE improvement from the 04's not only for the vents(which work great), but they are MUCH easier to remove also.
