Funny you bring the "Wave " up.
On a recent group ride to the Smokies, I heard our most seasoned rider in his 70's say that he is done waving. After all of these years of riding he has decided it is too much of a distraction to wave at anytime.
For myself, I wave most often, when it does not interfere with my own ride.
