You are only supposed to wave?  I thought it was biker "Rock, Paper, Scissors".  Any two wheels gets the rock.  I crush most of your scissors.

A wave a nod and to me it doesn't mater what he/she is riding if the eye contact is made  :2vrolijk_21:
It's a mater of etiquette

I wave all the time to anyone riding, no matter what they ride.
After all, we all enjoy a friendly gesture.

Some times I'm sure I freak some out when I'm on cruise control and use my right hand!

The only exception would be at a large gathering where you'd be waving constantly.

I wave all the time to other bikers. Due to the history of unfriendly car traffic in Russia it seems like all bikers not withstanding the type of bike are feeling part of the same family. Cars though are much more friendly these days.

I wave to all (except mopeds).  Even scooters if I'm in a good mood.  If they wave back great, if they don't it's their loss.  8)

Here in PA the Amish in the horse and buggies often wave to me...  I usually wave back.  I am not sure the etiquette rules regarding horse and buggies exchanges with motorcycles.  Buggies have 4 wheels (well some short ones only have 2 wheels side by side), but they are not a cage, so you see my dilemma.  :confused5:

The official proper etiquette for waving at horse drawn buggies is as followes, horse and buggy coming at you WAVE, If you are over taking a horse and buggy pass slowly on the left and WAVE, over taking a horse and buggy after riding thru horse droppings DO NOT WAVE, horse and buggy over taking you on the left FLIP THEM OFF cause there going to damn fast.

Too funny.  In areas of east and north of me there are fair sized Mennonite communities.  So when playing on the two lanes it's not uncommon to come up on a horse and carriage.  The people are invariably courteous and will commonly go farther on to a grass shoulder than I think I'd feel comfortable doing.  Always slow down and come off throttle as going by.  No matter how familiar the horse might be there's no reason to take a chance of spooking one even a little bit.

What made me chuckle though was thinking of this past Sunday.  Was out all afternoon.  Up north on fun roads on a fine day.  Saw several carriages out that afternoon.  Late in the afternoon came up on one that was uncovered.  Just an open buckboard type.  Still a Mennonite's carriage as seen from the driver's attire.

Two passengers.  As I got closer it was obviously a man and his son.  Son was early teens.  They were chatting about something and both seemed happy about something.  As I got even with the carriage I slowed a bit more and leaned way over the bars then rocked my hand back and forth.  Not actually hitting the throttle but just making the motion.  Obviously doing the "you wanna race" thing.

Glanced over and the man driving the wagon was just hee-hawing.  He either thought I was stone nuts or he was amused as hell.  And the kid was looking up at his dad with this "is that MY dad" look on his face that was priceless.  Gotta love nice Sunday rides.

On our way to a brew fest last Sunday afternoon a guy pulled out in front of us (proper distance) making a left left toward our car, he gunned his 3/4 ton Chebby and out the back flew about two cases of beer and a 80 quart cooler.

Sometime possin' is costly, not sure how I could have warned the HD heading that way, but in a 25 zone I imagine he saw the debacle ahead as the guy hung a yewie in the road an d head for his load.

Within the next few blocks as we approached the festival I must have seen 10 cop cars in a town that has 4.

I'm sure the were too preoccupied to have seen the beer dump anyway.

As to waving at bikers, bikes, babes et al.  I do whenever I can regardless of what they ride.  I think it screws with people that have a preconceived notion about Harley riders only waving at Harley riders.
