« on: May 22, 2008, 09:45:31 PM »

Is there a web site or posting somewhere that shows what the helmet laws are for the diffrent states ???

I will be on a little trip next week and wanted to look up the laws for NY, which I'm pretty sure is a helmet state, NJ, PA, Virginia, NC, and TN

That looks good, thx for the info.

Seems there are a lot more helmet states than pro choice states.

Cant beat riding helmet free on a nice warm Sunday afternoon, but if I was in a lot of commuter traffic on the highway I guess I would wear one just in case.

NY, NJ, VA, NC, and TN are helmet states. PA is not. Neither is CT. ;)

Usually your state will post who they are reciprocal with...  Florida does at least.

Also there is a book you can get at most gun stores that is current as to what the laws are.

http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws/  This will get you started.

Thx for the link, very informative

The laws for buying weapons in CT must have changed since I got my CC permit.

When I was younger I could, and did, buy a handgun without a permit but had to wait 2 weeks, and could but a shotty or rifle the same day without the wait.

But according to the web site now I need a CC permit to even buy a handgun and must wait 2 weeks if you want to buy a shotty or rifle.

Thx again for the link fired00d   :2vrolijk_21:

It seems my CT permit is useless in any of the states around me.

I don't understand why though, to get my permit I had to complete a gun safety and shooting accuracy course, I had to go thru a backround check by the police dept, I had to get 3 letters of reference from people other than family that said I wasn't a nut case (still debatable  :bananarock:) and I had to get fingerprinted, sounds like a pretty through job by the state to me.

What are other states doing extra that they won't let me carry there ??

DNA checks ?

If you are not a NRA member then NOW should be the time to become one, You can work with them as they are working for you consealed carry (national) as well as a lot of other gun laws that are unjust inflected on the law abiding citzen by folks that know much better than you do (you Know) the Democrate Gun Grabers.

The best bang (pardon the pun) for the buck when it comes to CCWP is to get a Utah Non Resident Permit (see here). It has reciprocity in more states then any other permit. There is an eight hour class that needs to be taken (class cost $75, no live firing at the class), application cost for permit $65.25 after completing the class for a 5yr permit. and renewal is only $10.00. If interested that website will have a list of certified instructors in each state contact one of them and check on classes.

You just have to check your state because alot of times if you dont hold your home state license they will not reconize your non resident license from another state
