CVO paint codes Black Diamond / Silver Dust
« on: May 27, 2008, 08:45:10 AM »

Hey Gang,

I know Harley will not share the paint code # with CVO owners. However, it has been my experience on this site that some of you are extremely resourceful.  ::) Does anyone have these paint codes or know where I can get them? If you want PM me with them. I CAN keep a secret. Seem silly to me I can't have the codes to do mods to my own bike.

Did you ever get a response?  It'd be nice to know the paint code to the bikes we own.  I did take a saddle bag lid to English Paint last yr and they matched it perfectly.

HD uses PPG paints. If you go to a PPG dealer they usually can come up with a match for all CVO paints. I know my painter can match both 04 SEEG's to a tee!!!!

The Dawgs right.PPG dealers have some of the codes.Don't know how they are on the newer bikes, but they had them for my '04 that has a 1 year only color.Unfortunately my painter has a dupont system so he couldn't mix just enough for my job.Haven't bought paint in years so wasn't ready for $40 a pint for almost black.

Hello Backrds,

I hear that.. If you have a Tri Coat, it gets even worse.. I bought a qt of copper Pearl tri coat and by the time i was done a little over $200 went bye-bye. But it was a perfect match and i learned a pint goes a long long ways.. Can you post Dawgs web site? Im looking for Vivid black and would like to see what they get price wise..

thanks

Any PPG paint shop should be able to help you. The codes for an '05 Platinum Fatboy's are 8002m for the Platinum and 8003m for the Charcoal in Peal 11-E 440. Go see a friendly painter. :drink:

I have plenty of spare "ice pearls" if needed from my tour pak paint job.
They were pricey and used only a few micrograms, a little goes a real long way.
The ppg deep black base is hd vivid...I could not tell...

To Black Diamond 110.  Nice upgrades (lots of engine work.)  I've got the same pipes w/SE Heavy Breather and PC III tuner. The pipes have great sound and performance - but not as good chrome finish as Vance & Hines pipes (ripply chrome finish against the light on the front cylinder heat shield.) Who built your solo seat??  CC Seats?? (I've been in touch with Chuck at CC seats who e-mailed photos of couple of seats they've built for a few Road Kings.)  One of the photos he sent looks identical to yours (w/snakeskin inlaid pattern.)  How comfortable is your seat?  I'm looking for a solo seat that "indexes" one into the seat but is comfortable for long hauls. (The stock Harley seat feels like I'm sitting on a high flat hard bench.)

Nice paint job.

Hey DS

Yep, the seat is was a custom order from Chuck at C&C Seats. The seat is very comfortable. I have done some 300 mile days on it with no problem. I have the back support for touring also. I is very comfortable also. I'm extremely satisfied!

JW, regarding the CC seat, is it fairly "stock" as designed by CC seats for fit or did you have CC re-shape the padding or the seat in any way.  Unfortunately CC does not have a seat they can send for trial or fit.  They build the seat to fill each special order.  What, if anything should I specify to Chuck that I want incorporated into the construction??

Also, I'm not quite clear what you've added to the rear tour pack on your bike - a built-in back rest but not a rear passenger seat??  Looks great.  I really like the Black Diamond, Silver Dust paint scheme.  Draws a lot of attention.  I like the embedded silver flakes in the dark paint on the fenders and fuel tank.

The only "problem" I have experienced since getting the pipes "tuned" is that the bike goes into the "parade" mode, starting to putt putt at idle firing mostly on the front cylinder.  I have verified the "tune" richened the fuel mix at all RPM ranges higher than stock, so I don't think it's running lean (therefore hot.)  A couple of folks have recommended dis-enabling the programmed feature, but I'm reluctant to bypass the programmed safety feature all together.  Do you have any ideas??

The seat is fairly stock. I had them lower me as much as possible but that was it. Rode last night. This is still one of the best investments for this scooter I have done!
The back rest on my tour pak is Harley's standard pad for a chopped tour pack. It's not on the bike often so I did not get something custom. But I am thinking about it. As my riding partner has moved on, I'm back to needing the pillion on the bike more often for future BSRs. Unless I get luck and find a lady with her own scooter!
I do not have the parade mode in my scooter. If I get stuck in bad traffic for an extended period I go old school. Shut her down and duck walk it.
