Bushtec standard wheels-

Anyone buying a new Bushtec or needing new wheels, I would recommend paying the extra money and buying the upgraded polished chrome wheels or the powder coated wheels if you care what the wheels look like.

Just put 1600 miles on the standard aluminum non coated wheels and they are splotched black.  They will not clean up with soap and water.  Too much work to polish after each trip.

Other than the looks of the wheels after 1600 miles, the Turbo performed flawlessly.  Hope this helps someone.  Don't be cheap/naive like me.

For what they charge for the upgrade wheel options might get the stockers and then get them powder coated to match the trailer.

When I bought the stock wheels/tires before the trip, I should have enquired how much silver or black powdercoat was.

Just spent this evening polishing the wheels, cleaning oils off with lacquer thinner, and then applying a coat of SHARKHIDE aluminum sealer that seals the atmosphere from the bare aluminum.  Works great on aluminum pontoon boats, should work well here.  Powder coat would be the next step if this doesn't work for me on the wheels.

Jerry mentioneed to me awhile back that Bushtec was doing their own powdercoating.  I'd forgotten about that until now.  There's a powdercoater here local who does lots of street parts work.  He's got a red that's a good match to the trailer.  Some weekend when I get energetic he'll do the pair here.

I had mine powder coated for 75.00 to match the rims on the SERG, and that doesn't include the cost of new bearings.  Doc

In addition, you may want to order the LED tail lights for either trailer you choose -- they are much brighter than stock and draw less power.

Mark

On a Turbo 2+2, do as Mark states and get the Bushtec LED taillight circuit boards from Bushtec if you order a new trailer or get a used one like me.  Installed LED taillight bulbs from SuperbriteLeds, but since the bulbs mount at a 45 degree angle, the taillights were barely visible in daylight.  Ordered the taillight circuit boards from Bushtec that fit into the lens ($100 for the set of 4) and they are now superbrite.  Regular bulbs for the marker lights from Superbriteleds worked fine for the rest of the lights.

If all goes well I will be headed up to Jacksboro this weekend to take delivery of my Bushtec Roadstar to match Casper. It is several weeks behind schedule due to the paint match issues but it is finally headed to final assembly tomorrow just in time for the 105th in Milwaukee, WI......
