I'm not a big affficianado of the UFC, so I can't speak with any great degree of knowledge as to the split decision rendered. As such, I fall back on what I thought was supposed to be the tipping point for a judge when a fight is very close. Which of the fighters took the fight to the other. Perhaps because I was cheering for Brandon, my opinion is biased, but it seemed to me that he attacked more than the other guy. I wasn't scoring kicks and punches, just watching who took the fight to the other guy more and I felt Brandon did that. I also felt he used is feet more and showed several styles of martial arts. The other fighter in my opinion fought a stand up boxing style with maybe one exception. Obviously getting Brandon on the mat is not a good strategic move as he appears to have great skill in getting up and away. I was very impressed by that as in one of the previous fights, the two fighters were on the mat almost the whole fight. While I understand that's part of UFC, I don't care to watch a match in which the entire fight is in that fashion. So, I guess my point is that I felt Brandon put on a tremendous show even if he didn't win (which I felt he did) and he fights in multiple styles which is the main thrust of the UFC. Again, I don't know the UFC very well, but I got the impression that the other fighter has more support from UFC management. Not that the fight was rigged, but it did appear that if there was some room to favor one or the other, Brandon came up short. As to Don's question about Brandon's future, if I were the guy making matches , I'd be inclined to keep Brandon up in the top echelon. He is a good fighter and as I said fights in multiple styles. I really like that watching his fights. I would guess that the real fans of the UFC do as well. Great fight Brandon and in my opinion you were the winner.
