Looking at the parts, looks like it gets the temp from "moving" oil, as opposed to Rodger's static reading at the base of the oil pan.
Would be interesting to see both gauges installed and compare readings, rate of rise, etc.

It's got a black face and is for regular production Electra Glides, but this is a good omen of things to come for us: Fairing Mount Oil Temperature Gauge Hopefully, we'll see one in spun aluminum in time for the holidays [smiley=santa2.gif], if not before. [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

hmmmm.... Which gauge would I chose to replace with this useful little item? The gas gauge which lies to me? The useless air temp gauge? hmmm... there's a couple of other gauges up there too, but I can't for the life of me remember what they are, so maybe they would be a good choice too! whatever will I do? This is a MUCH more accurate way to measure oil temp than from the bottom of the oil pan, this picks up the temp from the oil return line.

That brass elbow is a major PITA to install however(I have done two of them). The elbow was too long & had to be ground down on both ends to fit & then there is NO ROOM AT ALL to get in there & tighten the four clamps on the oil lines.

Hi fd I bought the one with CVO silver face at www.discountbiker.com... it works perfectly (I replaced the air temp gauge)

it is not an original motor company accessories (even if very very very similar to the official ones), but I ll post a photo as soon as I go home and take one...
if u need further information u can send an e mail to BRUCE (discountbiker boss) : hogman60@cfl.rr.com and tell him tha Paolo, from Italy told u about him....
Actually I did not know anything about this gauge, when I came to USA last march during Daytona bike week I finally met Bruce (I bought my first pieces from him years ago and just wanted to see him) in Olando and he showed me this marvellous gauge... I bought it immediately...
Of course I have the only one CVO in italy with this gauge (well in Italy we do not have mant cvos...)

Thanks Migs. Will look forward to seeing the photo when you have the chance. Many of us here have seen one available third party product being produced. Am just wondering if the instrument you have is that piece or one we've not seen yet. Was asking about the vendor's part number as I didn't immediately find it on their website. Thanks.

Probably going to be Rogers gauge that a lot of people here bought. I kelt it wasn't close enough to the factory gauges so have been waiting, now that the motor company has made a black faced one i hope a spun face is next.
