High Flow Breather
« on: May 30, 2008, 11:36:49 AM »

Has anyone put one of these on their Ultra?  It says that the fairings have to come off...does it actually hit them or do they say that because you wont be able to access the pockets?

I'm thinking it will either hit the lowers or have it so far up in the lowers that it's not getting a good airflow. :nervous: I have never seen it on a bike that still had the lowers on.

I think it would be great on my Ultra because I have taken the lowers off so the motor gets more efficeint cooling on that rear cylinder. It's not that big of an issue here in Arizona about getting rain and I love allot of extra air flow on me. I wonder if it will add anymore performance into the motor? 8)

Well, the cool fator is high on it...Do we have the largest throttle body already?  It says in the fine print that it is legal with stock throttle body.  I'm not in CA so that doesn't matter to me I was just wondering.

Howie, had the S&S on his SERK, he really liked it, but when he went to a bigger TB, it wouldn't fit. He might even be willing to part with it, not sure.

I just talked to Harley and inquired about the Heavy Breather kit installed on my Ultra. He told me I could go with a bigger Throttle Body from a 50 to 58 and go to a different SE setup with that larger TB. He told me he was not sure if it would be too much for a stock motor unless I was going to do allot of modifications to the motor 8) in the future. The heavy breather kit for the 08 SEUC will fit only on a 50 TB which is stock on an 08. Does anyone have experience with a SE heavy breather kit installed on there 08 bagger with the lowers off? Does it improve performance at all or is it a waste of money?  8)

I don't have the Heavy Breather on my SEUC, but I do have it on my 08 Street Glide.  You can definitely hear it "suck" the air in.  I went with the HB and V&H Pro Pipes with the Super SERT and that 96 ci engine pulls like a freight train!!  Was there much performance gain?  Won't know until I dyno it after the 1K service, but seat-of-the-pants dyno sure raised the "fun meter" up a bunch.  ;)  Plus it looks cool both with the sock off and on.  Nice screen print Screamin Eagle on the side, and laser etched screamin eagle on the chrome piece on the front of the cone.  It doesn't get in way either...my knee never hits it.  There is a specific model for '08 touring bikes.  It comes with a black plate that covers up the fly-by-wire wires that go to the throttle body.  It does stick too far forward for lowers though, so you'd have to take the lowers off.

RedDevil thanks for the positive input on the heavy breather. I have a SERT and Reinhart slip-ons and no lowers. Trying to get as much air flow as I can on that 110. 8)

I don't know if the MoCo would let you do it, or if it would even fit on a 110A engine (throttle body should be the same), but beings you're getting it for a CVO bike, maybe they'd let you order the CVO Heavy Breather that comes on the CVO Springer.   :nixweiss:  That way the end cap would have 110 on it and Screamin Eagle.  It's worth asking the dealer if that's possible.   ;)

Probably would take a VIN from a Springer to get it. ;)

RedDevil the service manager at Superstition Harley said he was going to talk to his Dyno Guru Tim and get his inputs on the heavy breather kit on my 08 SEUC. He told me that it is avaliable and can be installed on my bike with the 50 throttle body. I would have the bike re-dyno'd after installation if I can get some good feedback about this heavy breather kit and it's benifits to the bike. By the way I am from Virginia and grew up in Northern Virginia. Many years ago I went to Stauton Military Acadamy in Stauton Virginia. I was just back there in Faifax last weekend to visit my mom and now I know why I moved out west. It was very beautiful but way to many people and traffic!!
