Super Sert Cables Where can one purchase them
« on: May 31, 2008, 08:35:16 AM »

Hello on this sunny day.

I have a Super Sert installed on my 2008 FLHTCUSE3, The dealer installed and tuned the bike, I would like to look at the map and try some fine tuning myself, so I need the cables to hook up the key. One cable looks to be just a USB printer cable, however the other one DB9 to the HD plug in to ECM looks to be special.

Does anyone know where one can purchase the cables from?      Dealer here says he has none for sale.

Thanks for any info

Don,
He may not have any in stock, but he certainly can order the cable kit for you...P/N 32184-08, $39.95.  Or you can order it from Chicago Harley for 20% off, or from Jenni at Tri-County HD for 20% off.   Hope this helps.

Devil, thanks for the information, I thought the Dealer should be able to sell them,  the tuner sort of implied  an ordinary Joe would have a tough time gettin the cables. They shroud the infornmation in mystery.

Thanks

They don't want the ordinary Joe messing with the SERT.  It has a lot of adjustability and if you know what your doing, you can fine tune your bike within a gnat's a$$.  But if you don't know what you're doing, you can really screw things up.   Dealer's prefer that you let, and pay, them to do the tuning.  They stopped shipping the SERT with the cables in '06.  Could also just be another way for the MoCo to get more money out of us for "needed" accessories.   :nixweiss:

Also, to the best of my knowledge, you can't pull the setting off the SERT. It is strictly one way data transfer. You should be able to get your map from the dealer and then just open it in the software.

I know this was the case w/the SERT, but does anybody know if it's changed for the Super Race Tuner? :nixweiss:

You are right in one sense. Doesn't the new SERT have a small amount of data storage during a run? If that is the case, you can pull that data. I haven't heard anyone, though, that said they could pull their map out.

With the Super SERT, from what I've read about so far with mine, you can record data with the interface and "pull" that back into the program.  You can then take that information to adjust the spreadsheet figures to fine tune the tables and then reload the new adjusted map into your ECM.  The program also saves every new map that you design to your hard drive.  So even though you can't "pull" the map out of your ECM, you've got the map on your hard drive to use in the future if necessary.   That's the way I understand how it works, but I haven't read through everything yet.
