Sheepskin seat cover
« on: May 23, 2005, 12:05:55 PM »

Down here in the "Cactus Patch " aka Arizona, it's starting to get a little toasty.  In an effort to avoid the condition referred to by some as 'swamp crotch', I am looking to outfit my ride with a sheepskin cover.  Anyone know of a good product?
Thanks

IROAR......I know they're available, 'cause I've seen 'em.  Don't know where to point you though.  I 'made' one out of necessity on a coast-to-coast ride on my softtail......cut up a sheepskin and used rawhide strips to tie it down.  Worked great, just didn't fit like it should if 'store-bought'.  I'm on the lookout for one too, so if you find one before me, please post.  thanks, spyder

I used one of these folks covers because it was avsailable in that stylish black sheen...

However, I did have to remove it shortly thereafter due to the intense social pressure which I started to receive because of the extended periods of time I had spent riding my sheep... [smiley=laugh.gif]

The price is surprisingly affordable, too.  So if I put sheepskin on my floorboards, does that mean I'll not get that burning feeling when it's 115 degrees out? [smiley=confused5.gif]

Thanks to all who responded.  I contacted Mustang directly and they referred me to a company in New Zealand.  The referrals from the home boys were also out of the country.
Since they did not have a template for my seat, all I would need to do is ship them my seat    By the time I get it back summer will be over, a very clever but uninspiring way to beat the heat.
I did find an auto upholsterer in my area that can do it for about $250 in about a day.    [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Here's a place in Colorado:

and another in Augusta, GA:

Saw a link for "sheepskin" on yet another site.  But upon looking at it found it to be an entirely different kind of sheepskin  [smiley=shocked2.gif]
