110 CI How much horsepower can I get?
« on: May 31, 2008, 02:11:49 PM »

I have the 2008 SERK, I have added D & D 2 into 1 exhaust, HD race tuner, SE stage 1 air cleaner.  I know have only 94.8 horsepower.  I want to get 100 or more and when I asked the Dealer they said it gets really expensive, lots of motor work.  I have a friend who owns his own shop and he specializes in Big Bear Chopper Kits.  He said that the S&S 100 smooth that he uses in most of his builds has 100 horsepower and he doesn't understand why I'm not in the 100 horsepower range.  The Dealership stated that they can sell me larger throttle bodies and change the cams, but cant tell me what horsepower stats I could look forward to.  Would like to hear from all of you as to what combinations have resulted in what Dy-no results.  Doesn't seem like 100 horsepower should be that hard to get.  Thanks for the info

From what I've learned, you will need to work on the bottom end if you want to see HP much over 100.  I believe you need the cases bored for Timken bearings and the crank needs to be welded.  Others will likely chime in here and set you on your path...

Did you get it tuned on a Dyno and doyou have a chart you can post? I had my bike tuned wice, wasnt happy with how it was running the first time. Went from 95 hp to over 102 hp. Not all dyno's are the same etc but I could feel the difference.

I did cams, throttle body, and high compression pistons, in addition to the SERT, AC, and exhaust.  No bottom end work at all.  I got 119hp and 123tq.  You can see the details on signature below.

I would agree with a Kojak, you may want a second opinion.  Not all tuners are created equal.

110 CI How much horsepower can I get?

Right after Einstein finished up the E=mc2 equation, he set to work on an even more important task.  The result was HP=$3.

My FLHTCUSE2 was stock with 81.5HP/92.9TQ. Now I put SE air intake with K&N, Rinehart true duals, SE257 cams with adjustable pushrods, and SERT, and dyno tells now 98HP/107.8TQ. I think is below other bikes with 110" with same or less hot parts. Ambient temp was 97.17 F, at 1:26PM on Hacienda Harley in Scottsdale, AZ. Is this power normal or  need a better dyno tuner shop? Somebody knows how many mm diameter is my stock throttle body? Dealer tells me stock TB is already the same as SE race 50mm part# 27623-05. Is that true? Some dyno charts on 103" SE show more HP and TQ, I don't know why my bigger 110" has less.  :soapbox: :nixweiss:Thanks.

The '07's have a 46mm TB not 50mm. The 257's aren't a good boltin cam for the 110. Needs higher compression and could use some headwork. The 251 is a better boltin choice. I've seen guys with those numbers with stock cams with a good A/C, exhaust, and a good tune. Don't know what to tell ya. Who recommended just dropping those cams in? If it was the dealer, I'd go back and find out why.
