Absolutely...

1977-14 years old, riding a suzuki on/off road with big balloon tires at about 50+ mph through a field, the grass was about waist high, coming up on a barbed wire fence I turned to the right when a 2-3 foot ditch caught the front tire and flung me through the barbed wire fence. I rode over the first strand, the second strand snapped from the handlebars, the top strand came over the handlebars and snapped just as it made contact with my neck...the first thought going through my mind was- "dear God, don't let my mom see me beheaded". The next thing I know, I am lying on my back surrounded by dogs in a field, the dogs were licking my face and neck where the barbed wire sliced me. My dad came out, finished his burger and beer and helped me to the truck. We went to the hospital where I had 43 stitches put in the slices on my neck and left jaw. No one really notices the scars...

may 10 1990, heading 29 North out of Opal/Fauquier County area doing 60+...the new bypass had just been completed weeks before which is what I was on. I was riding beside a Beretta with a nice looking blonde behind the wheel, I was on a 1986 Honda Nighthawk. She looked over and smiled and accellerated, so I accellerated. What I did not know was that around the next turn there had been an accident from a police chase, I hit oil, gravel, glass ect. doing approx. 100 mph, the bike was fishtailing pretty heavily when it caught the left side of the rear tire on the lip of the road, flinging the bike over to the right. My right leg got trapped between the asphalt and gas tank, forcing my knee into it. The bike and I began to tumble, then slide down the road. I finally let go after the second tumble turned into a slide. When I came to rest, all of the vehicles around me at the time (6:15 a.m. morning rush hour) the girl riding beside me came over and held my hand till the ambulance got there. A cool guy in a VW bus said "dude, I think your bike is o.k.". My helmet (full face) was full of gravel, having scooped it along the slide. I had alot of road rash, crushed right wrist, my right fibula just above the ankle was in numerous pieces, my left wrist was dislocated...other than that I was unharmed! It took me about 5 months to regain full (or almost full) range of motion, and I still have a little pain now and again, but the angels were definitely with me! There were several times as a teenage passenger in a cage that I luckily walked away too...stories for another time perhaps.

 Very nice thread Capo!

LOL...  No, but I know the one you're talking about.  Sch. Mt. Road runs between Freidensburg (Rt. 443) and Reedsville (Rt. 183).  It's about 6 miles east of Pine Grove.

The road your referring to is on the other side of Pine Grove and it's the crotch rocket kids' playground these days.  I can't remember the name of it now which is awful, cause my band used to practice on that road right at the bottom of the mountain.  Guess it's good I have a geezer glide since I appear to be having a case of old timers disease!  :-[

Is that where you had your wreck?  If so you ARE lucky to have walked away.  We loose one or two riders a year on that road. Usually crotch rockets.

Ride Safe,

J-Carr
Exactly at the y in the road heading to 81 down the hill- still get the willies when I ride over a seam in the road.

Great Thread....

On a beautiful warm fall day with the leaves in full fall colors. I was traveling down a very twisty road in my 99 FXR3 when I came upon a car that was driving at least 10 miles per hour BELOW the posted speed limit.  I was very pi$$ed off  that this guy was ruining my ride and I couldn't pass him.  I couldn't even get out of second gear!

At the end of a blind curve we came upon 2 deer that were just standing there in the middle of the road. Because I was going so slow I was able to make a very controlled stop.

I'm convinced to this day that had that car not been slowing me down I would have run right into them in a full lean.

I never told anyone this story so thanks for the thread and for everyone sharing their experiences.  Just one more reason to love this site!

I left work for the half hour ride home. I forgot to snap my chin strap and it aggravated me flapping in the wind and popping my face so as I pulled up to the red light on McMane Ave, I pulled into a driveway so not to block traffic if the light changed to snap it tight. Just as I got it snapped and turned to pull back on to the road, a cement truck flew past and slammed into the pickup in front of me, pushed it into the intersection where it got tboned by another car. Yeah, I believe.

It took me a couple of posts in this thread to say anything, because the first angels I thought of, I have never met.  They were your dear Cristina and Jonathan.

I am so glad they are watching out for you ---- 24/7.  And may they continue to do so for many, many years, my good friend mi amigo.

Angels are all around us-do you believe? Part 2
« Reply #27 on: September 15, 2008, 09:22:37 AM »

So I do and no big deal whether you do or not.

I crashed my buddies 1970 CB350 when I was 17 back in Summer of '73 in Pine Grove, PA. No way I would be here except for my Angel, Speedo was stuck at 62mph after the impact with a cement culvert curb. Bike with me on it went straight up in the air (my buddy was following in my Vega) and I fell off and landed, looking up in time to roll to the side as the bike landed where I had been lying. All over in less than 12 or so slow motion seconds. Bike was totalled with the front wheel bent to the hub-both fork tubes bent back to the frame down tubes which were pushed into the engine. Had Honda dealer replace the frame and switch the good parts and then sold the bike the next year after less than 100 miles.
Great lesson in riding limitations and faith for me.

Please share if you care to

I have been in numerous car wrecks and motorcycle wrecks from age 16 till 27.  I'm now 32 and there is was no reason that I should not have died in at least one of those wrecks.  So the only thing that I can believe is that the BIG MAN hasn't been ready for me yet and I do have an angel watching out for me...  :bananarock:
