Well for me I am a fair weather Celtics Fan...I gave up on them in 1989 when I was in UCONN Grad school and learned how much fun College BB was...the pros seemed to be "walking through" every game...college was played with intensity and desire. So I stopped watching pro BB and concentrated on College for about 15 years. Then College BB changed...the better players were leaving College early if they even went. The last year I really watched was Okafor's last year at UCONN when he left one year early...BUT he graduated in three years!
Of the Pro BB teams, the Celtics were my favorite so I renewed my interest when they started doing well last fall. But my first love was Football followed by Baseball.
Being from central CT, we have no sports teams of our own so loyalty either goes to NY or BOS...my street was funny, my side was BOS fans and the other side was NY (Mets & Yanks) fans but it was also along racial lines...all the NY fans were italian and all the BOS fans were eastern european. Maybe Yaz had something to do with that but who knows.
So, I grew up a Red Sox fan for Baseball and until the strike year of 1994, I followed faithfully but then went on strike on 8/4 when they were on strike...and never watched another game until Anne dragged me to one in 2004.
For Football, I was born to be a Giants fan...thanks to my Godfather. I think that came across this year when I could not bet against them in that last game of the reg. season.
So, this year could be a "Banner" year for me!
