Corbin Dual Tour concern
« on: June 02, 2008, 09:56:32 AM »

I have had Corbins on my bikes for may years now, and was all set to order the heated Dual Tour for my 08 SE Ultra.
But, as I do some research, it sounds like Corbin is not the same company or quality it used to be.
If anybody can share more reviews, or personal experience it would be greatly appreciated.

The differnec between a few years ago and now must be the labor...The old seat pans were nicely finished, the new, not so much, I had to peel and re-form them to get a decent fit.

To thier credit, they quickly issed a RA# for my solo and pillion(with no backrest)...
It will have to wait unitl the trip to CHL is over...The thought of puttin the HD seat back is yucky.

I will have them recovered in the standard leather...I had the small gator...It looks like ca-ca.

I just received one.  With issues.  Though not with the effectiveness of the saddle itself.

They are, or can be, hard to work with on the phone.  Disseminating information isn't their best thing.  In my case they got the stitching pattern wrong and didn't know themselves which models of their accepted their own backrest or did not.  Errors at the sales and information level.

They compensated for their mistake almost immediately of being made aware of by not charging for work recovering a tour pak backrest I'd supplied.  That was effectively a nearly $200 discount on top of the 20% discount that had already come from the Corbin vendor the order had been placed through.  In the final summary it was a fair resolution.

The saddle itself, however, is fine.  Once again they nailed the seating position.  The fit to the bike is great.  The assembly of the saddle itself is fine.  And it's going to be a comfortable ride.

Best advice I might offer is talk their ear off to begin with.  Get confirmation of any questions you've got.  Then don't hesitate to double check their answers.  The saddle itself should be what your ass has come to expect though.

When Mike got divorced his ex-wife opened up Corbin in Florida, not sure if he got it back. I have never had a problem with Corbin from California now located in Hollister.

I ordered a dual touring seat at the Galveston,Tx rally back in November. I made certain chages to the seat & the sales person noted on sales order. When i got the seat it wasnt what i had ordered at all. So i called & arranged to return the seat for a refund. It took over a month once they got the seat back to refund my card & this was after many phone calls to them. Probably wont do business with them in future...

It sounds pretty grim so far!
Sad, because Corbin used to make a great product!
Also, I really don't know of an alternative company that I would be comfortable with...

Just made a new post inquiring about the Russell Day-Long Saddle.  Might be an option for both of us.

Check out Mustang, BaggerDave.  Corbin's are too hard for me - I prefer the Mustang fit.  A friend just ordered a new one for his RK - looks exactly like the one on my RK (except mine is 6 1/2 years old).

Received my first Corbin seat on 22 May.  Other than the center panel being plain smooth leather, like the rest of the seating surface, as opposed to ostrich, so it will match the passenger backrest and Tour Pak, I'm pleased with my Corbin seat.  We're smack in the middle of riding season, so I'll ride it until the season is over.......then contemplate recovering.
Ordered a Corbin Hollywood Solo for the Sportster last week.

So Henry was that a mix-up?  Did you order it with the center panel to be ostrich?

As far as I know, Mustang still does not make a heated seat.  This is a problem if you want a heated saddle.
