While suturing a cut on the hand of a Texas rancher whose hand was caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our President.  The old rancher said, "Well, ya know, Obama is a "post turtle."  Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a "post turtle" was.  The old rancher said, "When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a "post turtle".  The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain. "You know he didn't get up there by himself, he doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there, and you just wonder what kind of a dumb ass put him up there in the first place.

I asked a friend who is a black man  " would you support Obama if he weren't black "  Of course my friend said. Ok, tell me one thing he represents. Tell me what his view is on one subject. " Change " my friend said. Well what's he going to change and how is he going to accomplish it I asked. My friend couldn't reply. He could not name even one issue that he knew Obama's postion on. Don't feel too bad I told him, most of Obama's supporters don't know either. I don't believe Obama or his advisors do either but like the turtle on the fence post, sooner or later he'll fall off. And being who and what he is, it won't be his fault when he falls off. We've already seen that with his reponses to the issues of people close to him like Rev Jeramiah Wright and others.

I have done a bit of homework on the subject of where the candidates stand on the issues and here's one

 John McCain wants to shore up Social Security by lowering benefits and raising the retirement age. Obama's plan is to leave the rates and age alone and pay for it by raising taxes. Screw raising taxes. Since I've already stated I support McCain then I've had to change my thinking on taxes. I've given up on worrying about taxes and the budget deficit. Nobody else seems to care, so why should I. The hell with it, cut taxes, cut taxes, cut taxes. What do I care if the federal deficit is a quintillion dollars so long as I get to keep my hard earned dollars. It's just a shell game anyway isn't it ?  Just a bunch of numbers on paper.

And the Iraq war. Our military is all volunteer. If they want to go over there and die, who the hell am I to tell them otherwise. What freakin right do I have to tell them how to live or die ? It's obvious I'm 100% out of touch with our men and women at arms, but I'm not too old to learn. So if they want to keep fighting and dying then keep em there for 100 years. They have my support. We'll keep cutting taxes and keep printing T-bills to pay for the war and run that deficit through the stratosphere. We'll show the Reagan administration what a real deficit looks like. Hell, we'll print so many T-bills they'll be worth about as much as a ruble. And who's gonna make us pay up ?  What are they gonna do, repo the USA ? We'll just nuke the bastards when they come knocking at the door with the bill.

I've been on the wrong side of the fence it's clear to me now, but I'm learning. You won't see any more posts from me that can be misconstured as being left leaning. No siree. I was like Rip Van Winkle after a long sleep but I'm wide awake now. I'm gonna buy an 00 SERG, an 03 SERK and an 05 SEEG, a 33 foot Donzi for the place on the lake in Maine should be cool as well and maybe a Yellowfin center console out here in Dago. Beagle likes to go fishing sometimes. And no more little chit Ranger pickup for me. I'm gonnna buy me a Saleen edition 2008 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidison edition Supercrew. 500 hp out of the box. I'll buy the gas with my Visa. Screw paying for any of it either. So I spend more than I earn. I'm just doing the same thing as my government I'll tell the judge in bankruptcy court. How the hell can you ask me to follow laws my own country ignores I'll say.

Boy what a dumbass I've been. How can I have been so wrong for so long ?  But I'm on the right path now. From now on I am a 100% genuine red blooded American and I'm gonna do just what my country does.

That thread was the final straw BigR. I give up. I'm done trying to be a moderate Republican. No such creatures allowed anymore. You're either Right or you're wrong. I hate being wrong so I've gone over to the Right.
