Duane, do you have photos to post?  I love the one above.  That's amazing that you found a sign with your name on it right where you decided to park your bike.  What're the chances of that?

Jim - I have hundreds of pics - still going through and eliminating the less then desirable ones, the pics on the Whiteface peak came out pretty good.

I saw the town name on a map, and forgot about it. We ended up going up 30 (I think) and there it was. We passed the first sign at about 50 and I blew it off, then I told Glen if there is another one on the other side I'm stopping. About 10 minutes later this one popped up.

My whole life I have only met 3 other people who spell there name the same way (and all three were on my old volunteer fire company), so seeing the town was quite the surprise.

From The Adirondack Atlas:

>5,285 miles of roads inside the park and 17,733 miles of roads just outside the park
>The road density inside the park is about .6 miles of road per square mile of land

CHECK THIS FOR MORE FACTS: http://visitadirondacks.com/media/facts.cfm  AND  http://www.apa.state.ny.us/About_Park/history.htm

Enjoy,

Rich

And apparently only about 24 miles from Howie's!

Howie for some reason I thought Howie lived in the Albany area instead of the Syracuse area, duh.

You I didn't know until I just looked up Clarence. We rode over to Tonawanda HD, it looks pretty close to you. Too bad - we could have used a good diversion the night we were in the area, things did not go as smooth as we were expecting.

Damn!  I'm as good of a guide as you'll ever get in western NY.  Your route looks like it went up I-390 to Mt. Morris or Geneseo.  If you came into the Buffalo NY area from Corning that route would put you within 3 miles or so of me.  Tonawanda is 25 miles away.
