True Duals
« on: June 13, 2008, 01:42:03 PM »

Question of V/H True Dual Header's, what sound and performance should I expect if using the S.E. Stock Mufflers?
And is it necessary to have the Bike Dyno'd if this is all that I am testing first.
And lastly, what has anyone done to enhance sound, and assist with heat off of the engine.

I have an 05..  I used the stock head pipes and mufflers for 20K miles..  Over the winter I put on the V&H TD headpipes and kept my stock mufflers.

At idle, not louder, but you hear the sound in stereo.

On throttle, a little more noise.  Does not bark but a growl.

At a steady cruisng rpm, noise the same as stock headpipes.

TD's and a SERT will reduce RH side engine heat.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Boatman,

Is there the need to Dyno when you changed the header pipes.

Yes, you should always tune it if you change the header pipes!! :2vrolijk_21:

If you just do the mufflers you don't have to!! Some places say it is good to anyways, but you don't have to if you don't want too!!  :nixweiss:

If you find a good tuner, he can make the bike run better & cooler anyways with a SERT!!

Based on your Avatar, you have an 08 SEUC.  Putting true duals on will eliminate one created hot spot under your right thigh by eliminating the cross-over pipes.  But to get the engine running a little cooler, you have to lower the Air-Fuel-Ratio (AFR) the MoCo had to set the ECM at to pass EPA certification.  The 07/08 110s come from the factory at a very high, lean 14.7 AFR.  By having your bike tuned with the SERT or a similar device, the tuner can bring your AFR down to a richer (and cooler) AFR.  Ideally, you want your AFR down in the mid to high 13's.  Ask your tuner what he/she is comfortable with (i.e, SERT, PCIII, etc) and go with that device and they'll get your 110 running the way it should.
