hOW TO DETERMINE YOUR BUILD NO.
« on: June 13, 2008, 03:56:18 PM »

Hello members. Newbie member here and just recently joined. BTW, thanks to all those members who sent me the welcome note.

I have recently purchased a 08' SERK CVO with the 105th paint scheme, am wondering how to determine its build number as I understand only 3150 of these will be produced. Also am curious of any "issues" to be on the watch out for? I did return to my dealer after noticing the "whining" in 1st and 5th gears and was told that its due to the hydraulic clutch (1st gr whine).....I only have 400 miles on it now...any and all feedback will be appreciated.

Cheers from Africa (actually, Tchad)...as I am an American expatriate from Louisiana working in Africa...SERK is sleeping in Lousiana at this time awaiting my return in Sept.

are you talking about the actual number out of the 3150?

That number is on the Medallion "105th" in small print at bottom  (side panel)

not real obvious

there will be 2 numbers.....the build quantity and which one that particular unit is

I did not have any noise in 5th but 1st can whine....plan to change the fluid

Get that SYN 3 chit out of the Trans and put in Redline Heavy Shock and Amsoil 20/50 in the other two holes.. you'll like it and so will your scooter>>>>>Greg

Rewillia,
Welcome to the site...glad to have you aboard.   It's already been mentioned where to look on your bike to find out what number of XXXX (I think that top end number is high;  I think that there's only 1800 SERKs in the Anniversay Colors made.)   Also, the whine has nothing to do with the hydraulic clutch (my Street Glide whines in 1st and 5th also and doesn't have a hydraulic clutch), it has to do with the gear cuts...1st and 5th gear are straight cut vice the helical cut of the other gears.  Those two gears have a tendency to "whine" a little.  Like others have said, get the Syn3 out and put a heavier transmission fluid in there and that will quiet down the gears significantly.

welcome to the club and you'll find as much whining here as in 1st and 5th, me included, but there's nothing better.
