Potential Asking Price
« on: June 15, 2008, 04:34:45 PM »

I'm thinking of making a complete change in scooters.....and may sell my bike. I wanted to see if anyone had any opinions about asking price. I have a dollar amount in mind ($18K)...but I may be overly optimistic. It's a 2001 Screamin Eagle Road Glide with 7900 miles on it. Bits and pieces of extra chrome are tour pack rack, rear foot pegs, highway pegs, other misc. bolt covers, voltage regulator cover etc...

No blemishes, never wrecked, very clean, an above average bike for a 2001. The only thing it doesn't have is the original passenger backrest. It does have the drivers backrest, cover, and extra windshields (tall and short)

I haven't decided yet IF I'm going to sell...just thinking about it. If you have any thoughts, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks

You have a very clean, low miles bike.  I had an 01 just like yours a few years ago and loved it.  I think recent sales history would say your probably aiming about $3K to $3.5K high...but you never know.  Good luck...

Consult the NADA and adjust your asking price based on your finding, Whatever you added to the bike is what makes the bike yours and doesn't really count on the actual value of the Factory equiped bike.

Strictly for comparison.  Got my 20k mile 2000 red one three months or so ago for $12.5k.  Had all the originals with it.  That was probably a lowball price.  But have watched several sell in the $13-16k range.

$15k seems like top dollar for that bike in my opinion

Had one at a local dealer a while back, Chip had me go look at it, was in rough shape, they were asking over $19,000. Sat there for a while, I saw it on a poker run a few weeks back, but didn't see who was riding it, not sure what the final price came to, but I would assume several thousand lower, concedering the shape.

Hey Chip, you could get this one and get back to your silver and black scheme

That's right Greg.  It's all in the perspective.  You got my Road King before that though.  So it all evened out :drink: .

I remember reading your message about the ride home with the red SERG.  That sounded like a fine ride indeed.  I've still only got just under 2k miles on this one.  It is proving to be a surprisingly nice ride.  Sold on the Road Glide more everytime I'm on it.

This one being literally an hour from my house at the price it was was just screaming my name.  No way I could let it escape that day.  From everything I've read you say about yours it sounds like a great machine too.

I could even be tempted to head down old 66 and collect you in Tulsa or on down 69 somewhere just to ride 'em back up together.

Not sure if you knew it, but the Memorial Day weekend races got rained out and rescheduled for Labor Day (Monday).  Since you're coming all that way, you might want to take an extra day and hang around for the double-header.  There are also short-track races at the fairgounds on Saturday night.  Races, races and more races! :2vrolijk_21:
