Bike jack adapters
« on: June 17, 2008, 06:22:13 PM »

Has anyone bought the jack and or jack adapters that would fit a 08 Dyna? I have both jacks that sears sells. The older red and black one and the newer low profile aluminum one. If I could get a picture I could do some Kodak engineering ;).
Thanks

Not necessary to do any Kodak engineering, just go to your friendly (?) Harley dealer and he'll sell you the frame protectors for approximately $22.00.  The issue you may have will be getting the jack under the bike with the protectors in place, since they reduce the ground clearance by about one inch.  You may need to hold the bike up level while someone slides the jack under the frame.

There are many threads here about the various jacks available such as all of the Sears models, Northern Hydraulics, etc.  Don't waste your time and money on them -- get a J & S Jack.  They give us a discount (check under Vendor Discounts) and it's the best jack around.  Great people, fast shipping, made in USA (except for the bottle jack).

J & S jacks no longer giving this group 10% off there jacks. There reason is steel prices have doubled , See there web site

However I bought the 'yellow' one from Sears, still in box, taking it back and ordering the J&S, watch the video and tell me why I should RISK a $40,000 CVO .

I think not !

You're right -- they no longer discount (I didn't get one either but forgot -- must have been thinking of Glare).  Also, note that there is no adapter needed for Dyna models.

Ditto - did the same, Sears took it back sans the box even!  Full return price.  (Also took back some tool box organizers that I bought before my first Iraq trip in 05...store credit, but they were good to go!)

The J&S is Great!   :bananarock:

Thanks for the input. The J&S looks like it is the way to go.

I bought the Sears yellow aluminum jack, went online to ask where others placed the lift points, was bombbarded with messages saying I had made amistake, it was not sturdy and I should get a J&S. It was late, so I figured I'd try it the next morning and was sure posters were exxagerating. Well, I couldn't get it off my mind, so got up about midnight, went out to teh garage and jacked the bike up. It was so shakey it was scary! I took it back as soon as Sears opened the next day. Ordered a J&S - it's more amazing than you can imagine. That thing is so steady I don't know how you could turn it over or have your bike slip off. Get one - they're not cheap, but neither is a SERK.
