Comfort Stitch Seat....
« on: June 01, 2005, 01:43:04 PM »

I'm just getting ready to order my King tour pack (long wait for the paint to be done), and have a question ....

For longgggg rides I'm okay with the stock seat, but Wendy desires a little more comfort. So I was thinking the RK Comfort Stitch seat might be a good choice, along with the King passenger back/arm rest.

Anyone using that setup..?? If so can you share a pic or two..???

Also I found out that HD "does" make the oil temp gauge that matches the SEEG gauges. That may be old news to ya'll, but that's the first I'd heard of that. My parts guy informed me a moment ago. If I am going to open up the fairing to install an oil gauge, then I'll go ahead and install some new bars too...I like the 575's.

I also like the GPS stuff in the new parts HD flyer that just came to the dealers. Twolane had a very sweet setup, and after riding with him a little, I must have one.

I have the RK Comfort Stitch seat for when I have my King Tour Pack on.  Any other seat with the tour pack just looks really funny.  I got the Comfort Stitch for my wife but currently use it due to my hip.  Hopefully, the surgery tomorrow (artificial hip) will take care of that and I can go back to the stock seat when riding alone without the tour pack.  I don't have any pictures with this seat however, I'm sure somebody here does.

The seat is too big on the bike by itself.  But with the tour pack on, the other seats that I've tried are way too small.  So it kind of goes hand in hand with the King Tour Pack with the King Tour Pack Back Rest (the one with the little arm rests for the passenger).

Thanks JCZ..!! Good info.

I found shots of 103Thunder's bike with the exact setup I'm looking for. In the gallery section...

At least I think that seat is the RK Custom Stitch...

If you've not noticed it yet Ron take a look at this thread:

http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=eg_gen;action=display;num=1116405978

WFP got one of the GPS units you're talking about and has installed it.  The unit was talked about in there.  As one would expect there were minor pros and cons.

Also, I was unaware of an HD supplied oil pressure gauge of the right size to match ours.  If you've got it available please post the part number.

Thanks,
Don

I had to get the comfort stitch for my bike as the wife wasn't pleased at all with the stock seat on the 05 SE Glide...you need the one for the Roadking so it will clear the chrome on the gas tank.  I also added the matching backrest for her, the one with the small armrests like they have on the Ultra.  You get a template for the backrest and after drilling 6 more holes it was done.   verdict?   after an 1100 mile jaunt this past weekend she is happy.    I prefer the stock seat myself and if she isn't along, I just swap seats and take off the tour pack.  Between the seat and the progressive shocks, I now have back the ride quality of my Ultra.  (and it actually doesnt look too bad)

Will the comfort stiched seat fit using the Chopped tour pak? Also does anyone have the part number for the Comfort Stiched seat that will fit an 05 SEEG so it works with the Tank chrome piece that comes down the middle.

Also how many people think the Comfort Stich is better then the Corbin or vise versa.

Also what is the part number for that oil temprture gauge for an 05 SEEG.

Thanks

The Comfort Sticth seat is quite a bit thicker than the stock SEEG seat. I'd think it would'nt look too good with the Chopped Pack.

I don't have the part number for the seat but it's the Comfort Stitch for the Road King in the '05 catalog.

My parts buy just left me a message stating the part number for the Oil Temp, isn't valid just yet. Meaning it's being reserved for the Oil Temp gauge in the SEEG face scheme. HD, as you might know, already has the black faced Oil Temp gauge, and know they must create a similar one for the SEEG folks. Thus the part numbers are close and sequencial. This is from the parts guy.

I will try and get a pic this evening of the comfort stitch seat and the Ultra backrest on the bike.  The backrest fits fine on the chopped tour pac. The lower part of the backrest is a titch long, but you can just stuff it behind the seat and all is well.  I had my doubts about how it would look and fit on the chopped pac, but no problems, looks like it came that way.

The seat will look silly if you try and run it without the pac, way to thick on the rear, but with the tour pac installed it is no problem for me at all.

Tom...I'm very interested in those pics...

If you have all that and kept the chopped pack, that could save me a ton of money...

TMO, are you saying that the Ultra Classic rest for the King Tour pack will fit the 05 SEEG Chopped tour pak? Are you also saying that we can get the backrest woth the arms, (ultra Backrest) on a chopped tour pack. If thats the case we need to se the pictiures as many of us on this site woudl love to have this on a chopped pak instead of havong to buy a Kink Tour pac which cost over $800, from harley.
