NO LONGER Looking to borrow left side cover
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:21:57 PM »

I may have to ship my left side cover to bushtec to color match the trailer.  If I do, was wondering if anyone had a basic black one lying around that I could borrow for a couple of months?

If not, I am sure I can buy one off e-bay.

Has the design changed over the years and if  so, what years can I consider?

/Bill

Bill, here's one that currently is at 99 cents (but with a bid pending) that ends this evening:

Give him your lower to match the paint. Don't have to have those on in the summertime. THE MUFFMAN

I would but they are solid crystal copper...side cover has the two colors, gold leaf and the pinstriping...

Bill, have you priced a new one painted to match?  Probably wouldn't hurt to have the 'spare'.  :)  spyder

Bushtec is just 30 miles up the road from me and I am in that town everyday for a couple of hours working. Have you called Joe the owner to see if he already has your colors. I know for a fact that there are some annie owners running around up there. Surely one one them has stopped in to place an order.

Yes, mine will be the second they painted to match.  I have been in contact with Andrew there but in the package i received, they highlighted the need for a piece.

Just what you're needing, Bill.  And not a bad price for a new, primed one either.  ;) spyder

Bill, from what I understand they need a part of your bike to guarantee an exact match. I sent them a saddlebag I bought on ebay for a few dollars that I checked against my bike and it was a perfect match. It was damaged but for my use damage was not a problem only wanted cheap.
BTW, my Bushtec is a shade off but after waiting 3 or 4 months I was going to leave it there for a repaint. So the idea of a guaranteed perfect match, I hope you have better luck than I did.

Can you use a right rather than a left Bill?  Might be able to grab few year old right side cover.

Does the ABS unit require a different right side over (just thought of that)?
