URGENT! How much oil do I need ? FXSTSSE2 2008
« on: July 03, 2008, 09:40:30 AM »

Dear friends,
I think I got my knickers in a twist  :-X

I´m away from home and purchased 3 litres (1.06 x 3 US Qts) of Syn 3 to change my engine oil; Now standing by my bike I feel that I should have purchased one more Qt......

I have my owners manual at home so I haven't a clue of how much my bike will need, taking into account that I will also change the filter. As you might have guessed, I don't want to start by draining my bike when I might not be able to fill it up adequately.

Can someone give me the exact amount I will need?

Just in case, I would also appreciate it if someone could also give me the primary drive and gearbox oil needs.

Thanking you in advance,

Right out of the manual.

Screamin' Eagle SYN3 Synthetic Motorcycle lubricant
SAE 20W50
Oil level is 3.5 US Quarts or 3.3 liters engine oil

Gearbox is 32 fl. oz. or 0.95 liters

Primary (Wet Fill is 38 fl. oz.) versus a Dry Fill is 45 fl. oz.

Hope this helps, Navarre

Thanks a lot Navarre,

I wanted to drain all the oil by removing the return to tank line, but since I only have the three bottles I will just do the standard oil change, just draining the tank and removing the filter.

Next time I'll get 4 bottles.
