Guys, Jim (HD Dude) is really busting his gears working the shop full time now and doubt if he has a lot of free time to monitor the site chatter. Looking at his backlog in the shop and parking lot, business is good.  :2vrolijk_21:

Joe and everybody else.

Jim is a busy man!
But never to busy for us.
Call him and leave a message.
When hunting for a part I always call him and he ALWAYS beats or at least meets any deal I can get.
I could not ask for better service from anyone or any company.
I go out of my way to support him and once you try him and his company you will understand why!

What single hi/low beam headlamps are you all running?  Stock? 04 or 05?  My Flat lens tribar blackdot replacement is not deep enough for the HID dual bulb.
Thanks!

I've had a couple that were advertised to be that color temp.  No match though.  They are absolutely "bluer" than a standard halogen.  They're not even a close match to the HID bulbs though.

You also have to be careful with some of these.  The blue look of the HID bulbs (or purple or most other colors) isn't really the color of the light but a byproduct that is in some controllable.  The "white" light is still out there.  That's important because a truly blue light would be about the worst thing possible for us to actually see with.

Many of the halogen bulbs that are made to look blue or have a color temp in the 8000k range actually use some kind of shroud either over or impregnated in the glass.  In those it is the blue light that escapes.  So no matter what they look like they're crap for effectiveness shining down the road.

2LN, do we have a verdict yet? Has anyone used the Xenonlink lights yet? I want to buy them tomorrow.

For 75.00 I am going to try one for my KLR - after riding in this morning in the rain and dark I have come to appreciate that I don't mind riding in the rain, and I don't mind riding in the dark, it's the combination of the two that really makes your a$$ pucker.

Will report back what I find - if they hold up on my KLR, they will hold up on my SERK...

Ok, maybe I'm over thinking this but... if I order the H9 8000k automotive kit that comes with 2 bulbs (which I have) won't both bulbs act as high beams? Or is it that one bulb is constantly on (low beam) and then the second bulb is activated when the high beam switch is thrown? Would I not need two different wattage bulbs?
TIA, AJ

AJ, especially with the HID bulbs there's not a lot of difference between them.  In your dual bulb housing the upper bulb (low beam) will be on all the time.  The lower bulb (high beam) will only come on when you flip the switch to high beam (I know, d'uh!).

The significant difference in what they look like in their shine down the road isn't the bulbs.  It's the reflector behind them.  The light housing itself.  The focus of the two parts of the housing is much much different.  The high beam "pocket" focuses a much narrower beam much farther down the road.  The wider background for the low beam bulb spreads a much wider arc of light.

Because of their focus there's one other thing to remember with the HIDs.  I'm sure your tech will take care of this :drink: .  But for others that might swap them later on their own....

Expect to have to raise the headlight adjustment WAY up.  The "break" line for the HIDs has generally been much lower than the halogens were.  It's been very common for the spring behind the top headlight adjustor screw to have to be shortened significantly to have enough adjustment to get the light where you want it.

I will be sure to let him know next Thursday. That's when he'll be doing this installation, right before my meeting the following morning at TRAXXION's!!!
Then it's a fun filled weekend riding with my buddy in Hotlanta with a whole new front end on my bike.

That's a nice pair of upgrades to look forward to AJ.  If your experience is anything like mine you'll love the difference.  Have fun with it man :drink: :2vrolijk_21: !
