I will revive this thread with my stupid stunt this week.
I am riding the back roads with 4 other bikes and leading.
I am trying to keep things moving and come across an intersection that I have to make a left or a right.
It has a very steep incline and I need to make a left and I spot loose gravel in the middle.
My plan in my head is to slow down not make a full stop and take left.
well that did not work out, car coming around corner made me make a quick stop.
this is where all the trouble started.
I stayed right of the gravel but because of the quick stop, I did not get a chance to shift down to first, (did I mention it was steep?)
I grab the front brake and rear and stick my left foot out to stabilize the bike. (did I mention gravel?)
My left foot almost goes out (almost) and left my leg extended out to far. What I did not see was the fine sand (dark) that my front wheel stopped on.
(did i mention steep?)
Now I have left foot extended, right foot on rear brake, right hand front brake, and left hand with clutch pulled in while in the wrong gear.
I let off rear brake and bike goes backward, (I needed to stop that)
I try to gain my composure (all I really needed was someone to shift it in 1st, but all appendages were tied up) and figure out that I need to push bike right with my gravel foot and shift in first in a millisecond, leave off rear brake, ratchet up throttle and let clutch out before tumbling down.
Well I got r done, but was not as easy to get out of the situation as it was to get in.
remember to try not to do that again.
