I've dropped a dresser a few times. don't consider it stupid as their are two kinds of people... Those who've dropped their bikes and those who are lying about it. So this is my stupid story:
25 years ago on a dirt bike in the dirt I used to do the Indian Larry trick of standing on the seat... Albeit in full protective motocross gear. about 6 years ago someone told by 7 year old (at the time) son about how I did this. Not having the example of what happened to Indian Larry as a deterint, when my son asked me to show him, I did... On a Sportster. Now the method I used at age 15 to return from the seat was to jump down and land on the seat and of course with a dirt bike there's plenty of shock to do this... Not so much on a Sportster. 15 years ago my knees would let me kneel back down and slide off if necessary. Of course the reason I no longer race dirt bikes is because I blew out said knee on said dirt bike and hence, can't kneel back down on Sportster moving at 30 miles an hour with the throttle lock engaged. So I croutch down, get the bars in hand slide my bad leg down onto the peg, causing my good leg to bunch up to my neck and get stuck while the now un-throttle locked bike is slowing to wobble speed. I get the stuck leg free, which hit's the ground having missed the peg and swerves the bike right off the road into a ditch. Thankfully it's only a Sporty as I come to rest (UPRIGHT!!!) in the ditch, thinking that must be what a monkey humping a football must look like.
And now, when anyone brings up my mispent youth on a dirt bike and my son asks about it... I lie like a rug and say I never did any of it.
Ride Safe,
J-Carr
